Joe:

Snowed all morning here in Peoria. Nothing since noon though. Guess we are in for a couple inches later in the week. I am a transplanted Orange County California guy and I liked the winter the first decade I was here (lived in Glen Ellyn etc. and further north in Mequon WI.) but I've about had it. I will be wimping out and moving somewhere warm when my twins get out of school in the next few years.

We'll plan some event for us Illinois guys once the real thaw gets over. Three or four of us down here with Speedster replicas.

See you in the spring.
Years ago I bought this BIG lawn tractor and a 52", 2-stage snow blower attachment for the front (took two men and a boy to mount it on the tractor, and then it was really hard to steer).

Anyway, one of the first couple of times I used it was on a Sunday and we had gotten 14-16 inches of nice fluffy snow. I fire it up and head down the driveway and it's blowing snow out something like 60 feet....WOW! This is cool!!! But then, disaster struck - about half way down the driveway it eats something big and instantly rips the sacrificial drive coupling to shreds (the coupling looked kinda like a heavy duty VW steering coupler).

What did it hit? A rolled up copy of the Boston Sunday Globe newspaper. It ate/shredded about half and then choked on the huge advertising section.

And of course, the place to get parts only had one extra coupler which they had already sold and couldn't get new ones until the winter was over.......
