I'm taking the lead in starting this thread...Guys (and gals) if you are serious about becoming a speedster replicar owner, now is the time to assemble your want list and look what is coming on the market and headed for the upcoming car shows.
Now is the time to call the finance guys, activate the equity lines and put the mundane part in its place so the fun can begin!
The cars that are showing up for sale are the epitome of this sport/hobby... I keep the copy of Excellence magazine right where I can flip it open to the article on Mike Wiggins carrera. For some this car may be over the top, for others, it represents where we want to go with 'our next build'.
Yes, it is not uncommon to buy one, build one and then learn from that experience and start the process all over again, ie. Jim Ward, John Leader, George Brown and more soon to come.
Many of the guys who post here have shared their build experiences, good and bad. The end result is we all learn a little extra sumpthin' and what better place to buy a car than from the fellows that have poured their energy into the car, this forum and one another vicariously!?!?
In a little over a week the Knotts Berry Farm hosts an incredible show featuring a lot of different hand-built cars. I seldom use the term 'kit cars' although that's how they were known for years in their infancy.
The business of car building remains a hobby for some; Simon Hambly's car is extraordinary, and I suppose by singling out his build I may slight others, I apologize in advance...For the big three professionals actively building 'our' cars for a living and the two recent arrivals (and re-arrivals) the sport/hobby is what they breathe and their products will be lined up side by side for all to see...gems,all!
Keep watching the classifieds and I hope to meet some of you out at Knotts!
