I know I should not use the beam, for supporting the jack stands when installing shims. Where should the jacks be placed AND is it wise to remove front wheels to take weight off also when doing this installation? Thanks

I'd put jack stands either end of Napoleon's Hat section as marked in photo. Can jack from center tunnel. Wheels off would be easiest. I'd recommend the longer bottom bolts.

That's a great description of this part of the pan. I had never called it that before. Love it!

I found that I had to remove my bumper bracket bolts because I had very little clearance up and down for the bumper to move when I tried moving the beam. Also had to drill a couple of new holes in the bracket to get the bumper back parallel to the body line.

I've had the same experience. The bumper brackets seemed to hinder me when I tried to insert the shims. I had to go back and loosen up the brackets to allow full range of movement.

Guys
2 birds with one stone. I feel my front bumper is too far from the body, so as long as I have to loosen it up, to do the shims, I can tackle this also.
Merci beaucoup
(as Ted is prone to say, see what I did there)
