What is the best kind of jack to use with the Speedster? What is everybody using?

i have had great luck with my wife's Honda civic jack believe it or not

I bought a Ford Aerostar jack. Jack handle works on the lug nuts too. I haven't used it yet. I may modify the top.

I use a one ton Mack hydraulic that comes in a plastic carrying case. It was purchased at Wal Mart and fits neatly in the nose cone. Since my battery is located in the rear, it is possible to use this location. It works just great.

I have a Ford Windstar jack - the lug wrench/jack handle also fits my 19mm lug nuts.

I modified the tp of the jack slightly to cradle the bottom of the shck mout so I can jack up the wheel and not the entire car.

Im using a Geo Tracker jack. my pans had the round holes at the rear corners. I put a stud on the jack that fits in it.

I got a Geo Metro scissors jack with the crank. Haven't had to use it yet. Can you hear me knocking?

You guys have no class, at all! Here in the mountains we use an 8 foot 2x4 and a rock for leverage. Carrying the 2x4 makes folks think we are building a new house but getting the large rock in and out of the passenger seat gets tiresome. The Lovely Miss Sharon says it is difficult to set on for more than 100 miles

Many of the Spyder folks use a Mazda Miata jack, works great for lowered cars

I carry a small scissors jack that I got from a u-pull wrecking yard. I believe it was from a Mazda sedan. Very small, fits under the spyder easily. $5

Now heres a funny fact. many of the foreign cars use the same sissor jacks.
I know as fact the Toyota and the Tracker are the same. And I supect the Honda the Mazda and even the Nissan are also the same.

While lookin for a specialized jack for my Kwik Lift, I ran across several dozen websites soliciting orders for custom jacks made to your specs - minimum quantity 1,000 or more. They ALL were made in mainland China. Does that suggest something?

I don't know....

Like they've got a whole lot of people sittin' around waiting for something to do over there??

Or maybe they're all tooled up to make Jacks and no cars to put 'em in?

Or maybe someone decided Jacks were better to open but then the Poker World Series moved to Maccau??

When I was touring the old AC DELCO General Motors manufacturing plant in Flint, Michigan, at one end of the packaging area, they were loading hundreds of spark plugs into boxes clearly marked, "Genuine Ford Parts". I guess everyone utilizes subcontractors?

Order one of those Chinese jacks and within a week, it will be re-called due to faulty nuts and bolts ,lead in the paint etc etc????

Wonder if they produce "Jills" in bulk too ?

it burned out in no time. A lot of your aftermarket stuff is junk nowdays..

Bought a 6 inch vice (that's a damn big vice) from Harber Freight store. Used it maybe half a dozen times and the front jaw broke and separated from the rear jaw. Never used a hammer or pry bar or any other excessive force - just my bare hands. Everything is cast iron - very porous grain structure - lousy casting technique. Made in China. Store never did replace the broken part or the vice itself. Anyone need a small boat anchor - actually two anchors?

I bought a cheapo 1/2" breaker bar from one of those traveling Chinese tool sale wagon shows....just amazing when it snaps (and it will) how far one can go ass over tea kettle.

Im sure that made your kettle Boil...

And Realy this isn't funny any more. When the old cars can out live the new ones. It says alot about the direction Our Great county is headed into. and big companies have sold their souls just for short term profits.

"big companies" w/ lost souls: Some have and some haven't. You get what you pay for, by and large. The companies that are genuine, and make stuff properly done vs. POS pot metal, do cost quite a bit more. Lots of economics at work here.

Yes, Japan does build fine cars. But, Japan isn't China.

China only seems to be able to copy an existing product and in so doing, they make it cheap and it ultimately falls apart, is recalled or explodes.

The top-selling GM brand in China is.....Buick.

And there may not be any children's toys available at all in the stores this Christmas. China makes nearly all small toys. They are all being recalled for lead content, mostly in the paint. Sems like there is a new recall nearly every other day. Wonder if PPG gets some of that $100 per gallon paint from China? Wonder what's in it besides lead?
