After a week, I have been able to coax Jacque, my standard poodle, into the passenger seat. It took two cushy patio chair cushions to even out his cramped seat, but he's pretty comfortable now and loves to drip dog mucous onto the side of the car in retaliation. He's a backseat kinda guy. Here he is programming his internal GPS before the departure.

I've always loved Standard Poodles. The very gregarious "Zorro" whom I had the honor of meeting at Pismo put me back on the track for a Standard. I really think that if someone had turned their back for just a minute, I would have loaded that handsome fellow into the cabby and hit the road! But alas, Zorro would have missed his loving family. So...

Put a deposit on a puppy about a week ago. A handsome chocolate standard. His name is Enzo.

Angela, if Enzo is just a small smattering as wonderful as Jacque, you will not be disappointed. Jacque travels comfortably on the back shelf of my 911 but is still adjusting to the open air of the Speedster. It's odd, I thought he'd love it. While you're waiting for delivery, I'd suggest you start shopping for clippers, these boys need a grooming every 3-4 months whether they need it or not. The good news is that in between haircuts, you find no hair shed anywhere and their appearance changes so drastically, it's like having two dogs. He also looks really good in snow which I'm sure you'll find handy in CA.

My last dog was a Labradoodle who inherited the poodle ever-growing coat along with the Lab's ability to shed. Just an unfortunate example of the probability of cross-breds. Everyone think that cross will be non-shedding... So I've got all the grooming equipment PLUS a large shop-vac - LOL!
