Searching the Internet to confirm dates on the James Dean Festival I found your site along with conversations from October of 2013 discussing attending the James Dean Festival and Car Show in 2014.  I would like to encourage as many of you as is possible to attend this event and drive your vintage auto to it if you can. The dates are September 25 - 28.  I now live in Florida however when I lived in Indiana I worked the show as one of the car judges for 12 years.  I have seen a lot of growth with this event and for good reason - it is a blast!  Neighboring communitites of Gas City and Marion will also have car shows during this weekend to cash in on the overflow, however Fairmount is where Dean grew up and is where the Original Festival and Car Show all Began!  Dean's Cousin Marcus Winslow still lives in the area and in the old farm house and he usually brings Jimmy's 1950 Merc that he drove in high school to the event and a replica of the Spyder that he died in.  Marcus and his son are at the show and are very approachable.  While many different style hot rods and street rods are at the show having fun, the Focus is normally 1949 - 1951 Custom Mercs and Lead Sleds.  I think it would be awesome to a group of Spyders cruise in and park at the show.  I believe you would get the attentoin of not only car enthusiasts, but also the Winslows!  I will be driving up from Clearwater this fall in my 1960 T-Bird to attend the show and visit with family in the area.  I will be looking for you guys! You will know me from my Rat Fink Tattoo that says, "Big Daddy Lives"!!  I hope some of you can make it htis year and make a statement and show off your rides!!

The closest places to stay will be along the I-69 Interstate at the Gas City & Marion Exits.  I believe there are some budget hotels within Marion too. These may be booked by now but you can always call. The next best places will be either in Muncie or Fort Wayne and both are along I-69.  If you are coming in from I-65 and have a GPS you can check on places in Kokomo and then drive the back roads into Fairmount.  Its a nice drive along U.S. 26.  I do not have any brand names or phone numbers, you will need to do a little online research and see what's available.  I stay with Family or Friends when I drive up.  Check this link and see if this helps at all:

Maybe you can setup a group discount!
