They have some other projects to finish first.
It'll be a fun one for sure. The base roller is already finished and we're waiting on the local artist to free up and start the mural work. It'll be mid spring before he's ready for it and he figured he'd be 1.5-2 months on that work. I'll be sure to post some progress photos as it moves forward (long after Lane's car is out of paint I might add)

@chines1 So the artwork is being painted on the body? Wouldn't it be easier to recreate the artwork on vinyl and wrap the car? I like the fact that it is being painted but a wrap seems so much easier.
Yes it would be easier and WAY cheaper but this client requested it be done by hand just like the original
I like this owner!
I also love the dilemma it puts the painter in: strain like hell to get an exacting stroke-for-stroke replica of the original mural? Or go at it as the original artist did, to more closely respect the spirit of the original?
It's had like 3 paint jobs - I've not seen the comparison one from to another. Ha, good old days - she paid $3500 for the 1964/65 SC and another $500 to roadie Dave Richards to paint it!

...and it sold in 12/15 at auction for $1,600,000 + 10% Buyer's Premium ($160,000) to Sotheby's for a total $1,760,000. That's not a bad return for Joplin's heirs...her brother and sister.
Oh that inner gas door bit is perfect.
