I'm not sure if this has been posted on here before, but I came across this photo of Janis & thought it should be archived on the site.
Here is Janis Joplin and her custom painted Porsche 356.

I saw it on display in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame a few years ago. This car kind of puts a different twist on the recurring theme, "what color should I paint it?"
Years ago it was at Peterson's in La -- I tried to see it when visiting Boeing but it had moved to another location. Would love to have my Speedie vinyl wrapped like that!
That is so groovy.
There is what must be a replica paint job version of it floating round that was at the Marin-Sonoma Concours one year too. I can't recall if it was the original......I don't think so.......but there was just one Janis Joplin!
OH LORD WONT YOU BUY ME A 356

"Oh, Lord, won't you buy me a three-fifty-six; my friends all drive Ferraris, and I must make amends . . ."
Naw, just does not sound right.
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a 356
my friends drive Mercedes, I must get my kicks
drive hard all my lifetime, love shiftin' that stick
So Lord, won't you buy me a 356
If you want to see it, it'll be here from October 12 through January 20, along with a bunch of other awesomeness...

Makes me wish I lived closer to Raleigh, NC
That is a fabulous show, cars borrowed from other museums etc.
Here's an affordable version we can afford. I have one. They also made a larger cookie jar but haven't seem one for a while. It plays the "Lord, won't ya buy me" tune on the music box.
