The price to coat the 4cykl header,in&out with the sterling silver
finish ,is $165+s&h back. The exhaust system would be $145. Add $20 for
the flat black,blue or grey finish. We'll need them here for 3-5 days
plus shipping time back.If the parts are chrome or nickel plated,add $40
to the total and 2 days for stripping.I will send you our full
information package to get you all the coating benefits in greater
detail. It will not turn colors like chrome or stainless. Also it lowers
under-hood temperatures by 40+ degrees, keeps the pipes 25% cooler and
gets you 1-3% extra horsepower. Of course, it's highly rust resistant
as well(140x better than paint). Because of that we expect it to
increase part life be 10x or more.

Jet Hot also carries a coating called Jet Hot 2000. This coating runs up
to a temperature of 2400 degrees. The Jet Hot 2000 only comes in a flat
black,blue or grey finish and has a gritty texture on the outside. The
Jet Hot 2000 runs $25 more than the sterling silver finish and $5 more
per ft. This coating takes 2 days longer than the sterling silver
process.We suggest Jet Hot 2000 for set ups with nitro,turbos,etc.

All parts receive a 3 year unlimited guarantee that covers chipping,
peeling, cracking, discoloration, rusting. New parts also get a
lifetime rust through warranty as well.

So for those of you in the know, how does this compare to ceramic coating: Performance-wise, Warranty-wise, Cost-wise?

A 40 degree drop in temperature sounds great....it almost sounds to good to be true? Why wouldn't everyone with temp problems do this if it helps this much? I'm asking because I have no familiarity with these coatings either

Jet Hot brand is better than ceramic coatings (outter surface only)as Jet Hot also does the inside of the header(s) I have done alot of reading on this . I also build '23 T Bucket roadsters that usually have chrome classic styl;e headers . However with the new EPA restraints in place for chroming, the newer chrome is not as durable as it once was. Read the information in Speedway, Total Performance, Jegs and Sunmmit there is a disclaimer that stating the chrome will pit, flake/peel and rust due to this newer mandated process. On headers without question, Jet Hot is the way to go their warranty is the best available

At first read, I saw the inside and outside coating as a possible plus. I'll ask the guy building my exhaust to consider this treatment. The 'stirling' finish, is it supposed to resemble chrome?

Or is that a look it up and see sort of question on my part?

I get it, never mind...

If the headers dont get as hot, what happens if you have the heater boxes Jet Coated? other thaan they look real good. Will they get hot and provide Heat??

I would think you could specify the heater boxes only be coated on the outside. Would look 'cool' and ,if the coating does provide some degree of insulation, sould raise the temp inside the box as heat transfer through the box wall would be reduced.
Or something like that.

If I understand this correctly, it reduces the temperature by not allowing as much heat to radiate from the tubing, or through the coating. If that is the case, would there be a benefit to coating the shroud as well? Maybe even the tin?

I have used jet hot coated headers on street rods for at least ten
years on both my personal cars and market cars. This is an excellent
product. My 33 Ford has had full length jet-hot coated Sanderson
headers on a 383 stroker small block chevy for 6 yrs. and 19,000mi.
The near chrome like finish looks as good as the day I installed them.
Another big plus is no rust!I think these headers will last forever.
Can't quote on they're guarentee as I have never had to use it!

The headers and heater boxes on my ex 2,110 are ceramic coated and the heater system works fine.

I just dredged this up because someone else was looking for it. I called the 800 number a minute ago and spoke to a guy named Matt. He's looking at the header we made for my crate via e-mail photos, and gave me an estimate for my header in their Sterling finish is more in the neighborhood of $300-$350, since it's all one piece and that's their "lifetime" finish.
(He added that the website is jet-hot DOT com. I told him I'd pass it on.)

I did do a double take on that one - then I saw George's posting date. Actually kind of cool that a thread gets pulled up with his discussion on it. Kind of like he is still around.

Cory, For what it's worth I've put 19,000 miles on a full system that is ceramic coated black. No evident rust, no chipping or staining, and it's easy to clean off and maintain.
