I understand that Kadron carb sets come jetted for a stock 1600 cc engine. In my 1776 cc I'm experiencing hesitation and "un-crisp" acceleration even when in neutral; in other words, when you hit the pedal, the engine doesn't respond smoothly and immediately. My car has a 1776 cc with stock cam and 1.25 rockers with stock heads and the usual Bosch 009 distributor. For exhaust it has a VW Mexico header with dual tailpipes. I'm at sea level. Does anyone have a jet recipe for this combo?

Standard Kadron jetting should work ok on a mild 1776. 130 main and 55 idle, if I remember correctly. You could go up to a 135 main, but I doubt this is the problem.
Be sure your mixture is right and your accelerator pumps give the right amount of squirt.
If you need larger jets, Mikuni (motorcycle carbs) main jets are the same as solex/kadron jets, but are much easier to come by.

The 009 will always have a little hesitation because its a centrifugal advance.
People talk a lot about improved throttle response with a single vacuum dual advance distributor(SVDA) and a drilled left kadron carb for the vacuum hose. I dont know where to drill the carb though. Maybe some one else have tried this succesfully?

Hope this will help

Thanks guys. I did advance the timing before and it made the hesitation disappear but it started again; maybe I need to adjust the carbs again. Jjr, a friend of mine and also a forum member got his carbs done by AJ Simms (jetting and tapping) and bought the vacuum advance distributor but it took a long time to get them done. His car works great yet his start ups are more difficult than in my car. My car starts up effortlessly in the morning (as good as a totally stock motor with a single Solex with electric choke) His engine is also a 1776 but with a modified camshaft. If what you say regarding jetting is true maybe I can try tweaking it further. I can always give AJ Simms a call, buy the recommended jets from him over the phone and maybe get some other pointers on the probable cause (I've also read about the accelerator pump adjustment you guys mention).
Remember that the "jerk" Scott is no longer with them, maybe they will get back in a week instead of three months as advertised. Read the theory stuff at AJ's website and get the parts, we will do it here and learn something... Im sure I can fit that project between my three cars, the family and Chelo's car torsion bar job! BCNU ;-)
"Remember that the "jerk" Scott is no longer with them"

WOW ! !Now that IS good news. Every time we called he answered and told us the it was on the bench and ready to go out that afternoon . . . for over six months . . . THEN he lost the invoice . . . after THAT, the supposed wrong jets and venturies were installed because of a mix -up with a "similar" order.

The results are UNBELIEVABLE, but so are the excuses.
Wow TC!! Didn't know you had the same experience as Jjr!! I thought his was an isolated case but I start to see a pattern there. It's funny but Jjr was glad when told by someone at AJ Simms' shop: "Scott is no longer with us..." He'd been waiting for a long time for his carbs and got them almost immediately after Scott got his ass fired.....

Hell, with regards to a "similar order"...all orders are similar..they're all Solex/Kadrons for Chrissakes!!!.....
We've got a buddy, who also went the re-worked KAD route, rather than buy new, he sent his in for the upgrades, his took around four to five months, and he didn't even opt for the larger venturies, just cleaned, new jets and a drilled port for the SVAD.

They're either VERY busy, or VERY F@%$*& UP!
Guess what? I just found out my car was shipped with a 1915 cc instead of the 1776 cc I ordered and thought I had. Read my other post in the Vendor Specific section; now I need to further tweak my car to make it work appropriately. That includes a less restrictive exhaust system and jetting the carbs. Do you think Kirk's new Tri-Mil system is appropriate for that size engine? Anybody have any idea on what size jets would work in this motor?
Another option is to simply buy a pre-ported Throttle Body from us. We were putting Vacuum Advance in Kadrons 7 years before ANYONE ELSE, and while they were telling you to run a 009 because "there's no advantage to vacuum advance" LOL.

We have them on the shelf, and you can put it on your existing Kadron in 5 minutes once you have the carb off the car, minimizing your car's downtime.

we also have the idle and air jets, which are pretty easy to change at home, you do not need to send your carbs off to do this.

John your site says

" These throttle bodies ONLY fit the 40mm Kadrons withOUT electric chokes!"

Did they ever make a 40mm kadron with a choke, I have huge cold start shake with my 40's and would love to modify or replace them with something with a choke.

Possible to retrofit my current ones with a choke?
