Wolfgang, you're right! The former owner constructed a small single wheel trailer TO HANG BEHIND THE SPEEDSTER!!! (with an easy on/off adjustment underneath the car!) The very first thing I did when I picked up the car at the Rotterdam harbour was take off these rods! Anyone interested...

The originals are really charming. They don't have the surrounding chromed "gear cog" motif and they're cloisonne rather than enamel. Of course, the original ones are . . . original . . . and as old as the original cars themselves and seem to start at $100.00!

I've got one of each (two different cars) and think that both are kinda neat. My Father used to travel the world with The Ancient and Honorable Artillery and he'd bring back badges and number plates for me from where ever they went. Some of them are really little works of art! Little three inch treasures . . .
