Jjr is still sorting out some details in his 914; the newly rebuilt engine is in and it's finally getting ready to hit the streets again. But....he couldn't resist the Bug bug and he got this 1964 Bug for a very reasonable price in Arizona. Being a desert car it's a barn find; it has been unmolested. He has already started getting parts from Bugs for You such as a new interior (the only thing that was totally shot) and new rubber weatherstripping. Of course it will be repainted right. He's already started to clean up the floors and treat them with POR-15. Rest assured this thing will be restored appropriately. Here's some pics.

WOW,seeing projects like this always makes me feel a little strange. Over the years, I have come to know my car pretty well, but outside of one or two rides as a passenger, I never even drove an original Beetle prior to my speedster. Whenever I see one, I find myself looking at all the engine and suspension bits to see what the original looked. On many parts of the speedster, I have no idea if it has been modified during build, or if it came that way originally. No past emotional ties whatsoever. Maybe that makes me a "newbie" forever?
