I was going to ask/suggest a similar issue. The theory is (not speaking for john, just what I observe) to vent the valve covers and oil filler neck to a higher point where any oil vapor would separate and then the oil would return via gravity. But what I see is quite a few people
add that "vacuum" line to the top of the air-cleaner. But I (inmho) don't think it does anything. Air will follow the easiest path. Any "vacuum" or "suction" from the carbs will
draw air through the filter with very little "draw" on the line to vent box.
But it looks great!!!! Have fun with your new engine!!!
Guys, I don't know why my breather system is set up the way it is, but I do know it's working just fine. I am not sophisticated enough in engine knowledge to answer.
However, I can address the cooling issue...I have an external oil cooler in the LR wheelwell. The oil temp gauge seldom hits 200-degrees even in hot driving conditions. Usually, my oil temp is at 180.
John, I had a good laugh with your last post....I was sincere....
We look at hundreds of pictures of speedsters here on this site, and everyone complements each other till I'm almost sick, most of these pic's basically look the same to me, maybe its me, but I just don't get all the mental masterbation that goes on....Once in a while someone has an "outstanding" or "different" view of our cars, and you accomplished this in my eyes.....thats all...
and....the best part is that its NOT an Intermeccanica......
made here right in the good old USA....(I bet I'll here it for this remark).....No problem, I have nothing againt Henry, or anyone else for that matter, I'm just 2 drinks into a new bottle of OBAN, and life is good..............
Hi Ron L
Haven't seen you in a while. Being 'speedsterless', I seldom visit this site these days. I'm glad your motor is running fine. My Monster is off the road again! Did a hard launch and broke a rear axle! Happened in August......deja vu. Sooner or later I'm going to get this car sorted out! (probably later than sooner)
