It has often been mentioned on this site that buying from a reseller is not the most prudent thing to do.  At best, the price will be higher for the same thing, the choice is limited to what the dealer has in stock and there have been issues of finger pointing between seller and builder if something goes wrong with the car.  Order from a builder and get exactly what you want seems to be the mantra expressed by seasoned Speedsterowners here on SOC.

Let me make myself perfecty clear before a holy war starts on this thread.  Last night I spent 10 seconds letting the good people who visit this site know that I know of a couple JPS coupes that are for sale..No waiting, no build time, etc.  Just wanted to make everyone aware.  I could give a rats A$$ if you look, dont look, etc.  I could give a rats a$$ if you buy or dont buy...and certainly I could give a rats A$$ how prudent it is to buy from a reseller.  I am building with Vintage for that very reason so I am aware of this.

I know from time to time people complain about how long it takes to build one of these so, I thought it would be a nice gesture to let people know they are out there.

Wont do that again.

A nicer gesture would have been a simple wow - thanks for the info.  Not sure of what situation you speak of...me building one?  Yeah, for me it was the only way to go because I could get the color I wanted with all my upgrades, but I also dont have to wait 6 moths to get it and it isnt a coupe!...my feathers are not ruffled my friend.  I was simply stating that my post was a simple gesture of good will to anyone looking for a jps coupe that didnt want to wait.

My feathers arent ruffled Hoss and if and when I ever meet you I will give you a big hug. Reach arounds are extra...

Hoss, I read your post and agree, it seems that DEALERS that resell NEW replicas must raise the prices for their piece of the pie. A new Beck for sale from Carey's shop would certainly be at least 2K lower than buying it from "DEALERSHIP". Plus you would have the builder standing behind his car instead "find someone that works on these things" from a salesman. So you have three options in getting a 356 Replica in your garage: Dealer, Builder and yourself. I've done 2 of the three and admit the building was an experience as was the steering shaft breaking while driving, skidding into an intersection because I didn't bleed the brakes correctly and the engine bay fire due the VW engine's habit of back firing through the carburetors in the cars I built. Now I drive a car I bought from the builder and have someone I can call when a or if a gremlin appears and my only concerns are the other drivers on the road.

Ruffled feathers? We don't need no stinking feathers!

TR- you are barking at probably one of the nicest guys I ever met.  John's statement is based on experience.  He has been around these cars and this site since the beginning of time (yeah he is pretty old).  I did not take his comment as never buy a replica from a dealer, the main point is that we have seen a lot of these dealers fold or get out of the replica's after a few years and the buyer is left with the conundrum of who to turn to when things go wrong.  This happened a few towns over from my house where a company was selling Becks. Luckily Carey was not too far from this place and he backed up all the cars these folks sold.

I agree that if someone wants a no wait car, a dealer makes sense, but if one can wait John's advice is very, very, prudent.

Geez guys relax. I have been spanked I get it. My barking was not at Hoss. My post was not supposed to be a debate about reseller or non. My post was a staetement not a question. Hoss- sorry man. Just trying to let the good people on this site know there were some cars for sale. I am sure the good people can make up their own minds on the cars.
