Boy did this take a left turn...
Well, Bill, it is the SOC...
I'll say it again, Bud; I was only trying to help. You asked a question that I really thought no one could answer (I don't think any one else here has one of those), and since the car is in your posession, you're the perfect guy to figure it out. And as I said before (I'm saying that a lot here), no 2 of these cars is built exactly the same, and that cable is a new one (to all of us, I think; someone please correct me if I'm wrong). Re-reading my first suggestion, I could have worded it differently (I was going for light hearted), I guess, but no insult/condascention (condascendingness? I don't know. English majors- help me out here!) was intended. I was thinking, "we can't solve this over the internet; get off your butt and look, since it's in your garage"...
At your suggestion I went back and re-read your first posts; I see a car enthusiast that's owned some different cars. I'm guessing you've never owned a Beetle or old Porsche; these cars are a little different (as well as being truly archaic automotive technology) and there aren't many mechanics around these days that have worked on an old bug or 356. I know your car is Subie powered, but a lot of the suspension is still rooted in the 1930's.
My response is the same- follow the cable; what's it connected to?
Stan describes what this forum is about pretty succintly (I'm not sure that's the right word for what I'm thinking, but I've been wanting to use it for a while, so here it is!), as Stan so often does (I love what you write Stan; don't stop!). Most of us are on a first name basis here, and there's a reason for that; this is not just a forum about cars. I feel like I know quite a number of these guys fairly well (and am looking forward to meeting everybody at one of the get togethers one day should I ever be able to arrange my attendance), and people here have done all sorts of things for guys they've never actually met (one nutball even crossed an international border to look at a car for a new member).
My point is, this may not be exactly the type of car forum you're used to. If you take the time to get to know some of us, you may like it here. If you don't, I get that too. Al
Bud- Just read your post above. Again, I'm sorry you're all butt-hurt, but I won't miss you. You really don't get it...
