Hello everyone a fellow Porsche 356 Couple enthusiast in Japan.
Ive been looking at JPS already for few months as im planing to purchase a coupe, unfortunately wont be able to visit U.S. so im trying to gather as much as information possible about their quality and performance, is subaru engine worth the price? any places i could buy a second had one?
any advice will be greatly apreciated

I went for a ride with the owner of JPS in a JPS coupe with the subaru engine and it's got a great amount of power.
The 2200 stroker engine he also builds are supposed to be move even faster.
For me...I'm content with my 1776 cc for now, but living in Vegas I have often considered getting a water cooled subaru...or perhaps a really nice oil cooler system.

Billy, Google Beverly Hills Auto's in Sand Diego and South Atlanta Motorsports , on occasion they have them...but they don't last long.
Good luck, I tried for a month or more to find one and there are not many and they sell fast.
By far the main reason I bought new is because I wanted a water cooled engine...preferably Subaru. In hind sight I would do it again with the same builder for car and engine.
Since Japan is its destined home, I definitely go with the Subaru engine. Even in US difficult to find quality parts and someone to maintain (if you can't).
Jps already sold at least one coupe to a customer in Japan. You can call John Steele at Jps and he could hook you up. You may have a chance to visit with the owner and compare notes.
I hear that some refurbished subi engines are no longer street legal in Japan. Something worth checking into.

Thank you so much everyone for the very helpful advices!. So glad to come across this forum. At the moment i move around in this lovely kharmanghia (that one will stay with me of course) but seriously planing to purchase a 356 coupe for longer trips.

Read your dialog box
If you are going to read it, block off some time ( 30 minutes) get a snack and a beverage, a pad and pencil and maybe some graph paper to chart the connections and deviations, and start at the very beginning. There has been some occasional thread drift (big surprise with this group).
Suffice to say that you would have a difficult time, IMHO, finding anyone who has read this thread who would heartily endorse CCW as a vendor for you to contract with.
