Are there any JPS coupe owners out there? What year was your car built? How do you like it?

LOVED IT
SOLD IT TO A GUY IN MIAMI
AND HE LOVES IT
My wife has a JPS Coupe, it was built in 2009. She loves it, I like it. I have a 2002 VS Speedster, I love it.

I asked months ago how many coupes JPS had produced - can't find the post here now but think it was like 75 at that point.
Just bought one - 2009
gets delivered next week.
Will let you know!
I have one being built. Will update this thread when I take delivery.

Well ?
But I'm writing this at 1:35 am from Germany and haven't had a chance to drive it yet ( other thank a few blocks off the transport truck). A few minor things to fix and quirks such as the dual carb linkage.
Hoping to have some fun with it when I get home and shake the jet lag (and snow apparently!)
Congratulations! Beautiful car.
Pre901 that looks great...congratulations!
Love the seats....once you drive it I'd be curious to get your feedback on them.
Thanks for the kind words BobG. I'm pretty pleased
Brandon I was originally going to order one from John at JPS After a 5 month search for a real A coupe this side of $50k. I was going to go Subaru power but then this came up and was 90%+ of what I was going to order.
I did like the look of the original seats but was told that due to my height (6' 2") these would be best and I fit like a glove (and I'm not on the last notch of the slider)
if anyone can suggest different return spring configurations on the carbs I'd love to know!
I'd like to put wide 5s and white walls on it. I guess I'm not much of an outlaw (though dream of airbags like Mango and Ollie. Maybe on a speedster?
This one looks familiar. Did you buy this from South Atlanta Motorsports? That's where I got mine.
YOUR CAR IS BEAUTIFUL I LOVE THE COLOR COMBINATION
ENJOY
I just bought a new set of springs at ace hardware and they are perfect. They cost about 4 bucks for 2. All the auto stores sell sets but none of the sets match But ace had two in a package...
Yes it came from South Atlanta motorsports. They seemed like pretty nice people.
Thanks Gerdddd and thank you for your earlier advice.
TDR - thank you. The thing I don't like is the way the spring cuts across the engine bay. I'll be looking for different anchor points and as you say probably different springs.
Maybe you could try something like this. Clean, nothing stretched across the engine bay, in fact...nothing pulling on the throttle levers at all except for the linkage. The compression spring came from ACE Hardware, and the end piece is simply a suitably-sized plastic hole plug with a hole through the middle for the throttle cable. This is the same set-up I've used on over a dozen dual-carb engines and they've all been great.

I've seen some cars with the single spring going back to the engine cover latch and always thought it looked kinda hokey, plus the angle that the spring is pulling at seemed wrong. That's why I decided on the design I used. It's simple, it pushes on the entire linkage, it can be made soft or hard by changing spring rates and/or length, it is captive, it is dirt cheap and.....it works with both CB-style and bell crank linkages. The pedal feel I ended up with is relatively soft (about the same as my truck), but I've never had a problem with the carbs returning to idle.
Gordon's demo of return spring gets my vote. That set-up is similar to that of early (pre-60) bugs.
I like Gordon's solution too. My point is that one spring in the center makes more sense than two springs that will always be slightly out of balance.
I would have answered sooner but have been out of wifi range all day and didn't want to incur the international roaming 3G costs!
I'll show you what I manage when I get back
Thanks again

Excellent (and clean!) solution Gordon; I've put the info in my notes. Al
Does JPS offer only the two engine sizes or can they install a Type IV from a 914? I see nothing about optional engines on their website. Beck evidently offers Raby's engines, but their coupe won't be out for at least a couple of months. I'm Porsche-less right now and am looking for a coupe.
JOHN WILL PUT ANY ENGINE U WANT TO PAY FOR IN
How about a two-stroke diesel?
would that be vin diesel???

What did you have in yours, and why did you sell it? I don't want to put you on the spot with the buyer, but if the car was just not your style, I would like to know why. Also, if you were to buy another coupe, what is the minimum engine size you would shoot for?
Mines a 2110 and goes about as fast as I would ever dream of going in an older technology car. even though it has 4 wheel discs etc, at the end of the day, it's not going to handle or brake like my STi but your really do feel connected to the road!
