I am interested in getting some feedback from some current owners of JPS coupes on sound in the cab/heater/ and water tightness.
I followed the green coupe thread and I am not interested in that car or its problems.
I am hoping to reach out to some owners that have bought coupes after the first 3 production models.
The purpose of the coupe would be able to drive it year round weather permitting, meaning cold out but dry roads.
I am going to fly out to California this month to look at some models in production and possibly order one.
Any information is much appreciated.Thanks,Tom

I know, that is why I am not interested in talking about that car.We haven't heard alot from other owners of coupes after the 1st 3 coupes.
I know Gerd has one and is happy,so I am just trying to get an update on the general overall quality since the initial builds.
I have received a few emails offline that I will respond to so hopefully that will help me decide.
BTW, nothing wrong with my speedster,I think I would just prefer to have a coupe.
Eddy--I am sure that if I didn't already have my VS like I want it I'd certainly spring for a coupe. They are gorgeous and John has come up with something that no one else has. I know you were very happy with yours and no wonder!

Do you know if John has ever considered offering a Suby engine as an option?

Way back in 1961 I absolutely lusted for a 356 coupe and now to be able to have one is quite something.

Hey Jack,

I just dropped off my car yesterday to get my clear coat paint corrected (it is yellowing) free of charge (nice service), and John pointed to me to a beautiful black coupe with Subaru engine. He started the engine and it sounds great. It almost sound like a watercooled Porsche. He said that since it is a watercooled engine, there is a real heater and he figured out how to use the AC fan to blow the heat and cool air to defrost the windshield. Sound cool to me. I probably be tempted to get with the Subaru engine if I did not have what I have now.

Eddy
Hey Tom,

If you decide to come out here to test, ask if John has a car with a Subaru engine for you to look at. Most of the time he will not let his potential customer drive his customer's car (understandably), but at least you can hear how the engine sounds. John actually has his own personal coupe with a Subaru engine, it is basically a test car that he used when he developed the Subaru engine. If he still have it when you go see him, he might let you drive that.

Eddy
I bought a VS last summer and I have only had JPS service it as well as do some upgrades. JPS is 1 mile form my house. John has done nothing but make my car better every time it goes to him. He changed suspension as well has some engine components. I have nothing but good things to say about him. If I had to do it over, I would by a jps.

That said, if i did not live by either jps or vintage, i would buy a nice used speedie and sort it out myself, or buy a speedie from one of the guys here that sorts them out.
Geez GERD, Be cool man. Put the pin back in that grenade. Tax season can't be that bad. I'm still picking the shrapnel out of my but from OUR last exchange. You really need to lighten up. This is supposed to be a great place to visit without fear of getting a chunk taken out of your backside for a little mis-step. :o) I really hope your tax season goes by quickly and you get that Coupe SEG back on!
Rich, which velour sofa?

Oh, you must be talking about the velour booster seats which were attached to the floor with a couple 2x4s and a few screws that of course came loose on a turn maybe the fifth time I drove it. Luckily the lap seat belt was attached to the seat as well so had I been thrown from the car, the seat would have provided some impact relief.

Have I gotten rid of them yet? No. I don't know anyone who wants them. Have I taken them out of the speedster? Uh, yeah. You should have seen how hard John Steele unsuccessfully tried to not laugh when he first saw them.

Can I insert a pic with basic hypertext? About to find out.
