My RV business is in the toilet due to the current economic mess and despite all the efforts being made I must sell the infamous JPS green coupe #2. :-(

This is a great opportunity for someone that wants a coupe project and is willing to sort out the remaining issues.

I will sell it for my loan balance of $24,000. It is titled with a california title as a 73 vw.

(Car was over $34,000 new and would cost more now). I need to reduce my overhead and turn my toys into cash.

General consensus is with no help from JPS, the cost to fix it in parts is less than $1000. JPS is sending parts and providing some support. Another face may do even better with JPS than I as John and I definitely clash.

Anyone interested PM me: tomdewaltATmac.com

That's f****d up, Tom! Sorry to hear this.
It'll be tough to sell it on this site.
Try placing it on Samba as well.
Hey Vince! Remember what you said....
Gerd, good opportunity to get your coupe. Tell your son to finance his own way through law school.
Alan, you got money in the bank. Ever done a coupe? No flares, though.;)
Bob--your post was a priceless classic. I'm positive some will jump all over this.

It's time to thank all the tree huggers who stopped building nuke power plants, new refineries and offshore drilling. I sure as hell hope they will enjoy the coming social unrest they are to blame for causing. The recent changes that allow such speculation that is driving up prices of energy and food is to blame for much of the run up. There is a bill pedding to cancel these new rules that are causing the price rises,so that's a hopeful development. And the rest of the politicians on both sides who are only interested in getting re elected starting day one of a term. My daughter worked for one and I know what I'm talking about.

--Sure used to be a great country.

Tom---man, you tried your best and at least saw what soc members thought of a fellow member. As a business broker I certainly understand what $4.00 gas is doing to your RV sales.

I apologize for the negative but truthful post.---Jack

Lane,

I took a deposit yesterday on my speedster, so it looks like it is sold. Guy in Wisconsin joining the madness.

At least it's going to a good home. I'm already setting my sights on a Special Edition "D" with a WC engine when times improve.

You all can count on me hanging out here to get my "speedster fix" even when both cars are gone.

Thanks for the support.
Bob, if I wanted a coup like Tom's I would buy it in a minute.
If anyone knows anything about me and my speedster then u would know that I went thru 2 months of redrawing what I wanted until I had Carrol and John ready to strangle me. I had John rip stuff out and redo because of changes i wanted. I have my coup allready designed and it is from scratch as it is not cost effective from remaking a currently built car.

Tom
good luck with your sell on this site. As i stated in my letter to you,now maybe you will realize the damage you did to other JPS owners and their cars who had nothing to do with your problems. cause it is going to be a tough sell.
I am sorry about your business problems. I know the economy sucks right now but times will get better, I do hope all works out well for you.
Tom - This has been an amazing story. There certainly seems to have been a lot of mood changes along the way. What am I missing? I thought the project was coming along fine and that you were happy with getting it fixed by those who so geneously offered help. What happened? Now you're throwing them under the bus? I know the RV business must be a big factor, (I know, I have one), but it didn't happen yesterday. I think your change of heart to sell was not a change at all. I think you wanted to sell it all along, especially when you put so much money into it and it wasn't what you expected. Your timing in electing to go public with your thoughts about JPS is certainly not going to help you sell it. I hope you got some satisfaction, maybe rightfully so, raking JPS over the coals. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot though. IMHO, you need to get the car back together, show some cool pics, hype it up with some positive stuff, and then, and only then, put it up for sale. Otherwise, you will undoubtedly take it in the arse. But then, what do I know? I am just a dingbat here on the very hot leftcoast. Good Luck Tom! No I am not a tree hugger. I am in total agreement with Jack.
Where on god's green earth do you people have the audacity to tell someone what they should do or didn't do...then to add more rhetoric state ......."Past posts caused damage to JPS speedster owners" Yeah hello, this wouldn't happen to be the direct result of a continual quality control problem.....
You guys need a mental enema and clear your cranium void. In this current economy, there are many businesses and jobs going into the wind, a direct result of our politicians hot air. Should you have a continual yearning to fill your idle time with senseless key strokes, utilize said time by volunteering somewhere and or search the Web, find your local Senator and or Congressman and fire off some of your hostility toward their lazy asses that are costing us businesses and jobs. ~Alan
WOW Alan, your post is so unlike you. More like me!!!!! I agree completely.

"the damage you did other JPS owners"

You got some gall. After all his trouble and bullshit, you attack him for being honest about it? How dare you attack him for talking about his experience as an owner, on an owners website.

Basically, you wanted him to shut up, because it may some how change the value of your car? You have got to be kidding.

I am certain he will be able to sell it for what he is asking. I think he has taken enough beating.

I in fact am ashamed of myself for not posting more about my experiences as an owner. I didn't because I felt a lot of my experiences were related to being such an early customer. In reality I probably had just as many problems with my SAW car, although they occured over 20,000 miles. If I didn't see the builder making changes to the future cars that would prevent these problems I would have been more vocal.

Your private letter, sounds more like bullying to me. When I get time, I will post all of my experiences as a SAW owner, just to make it all even, so your car isn't some how worth less just because it is a JPS.

Steve,

No doubt I'm not the only one who would welcome your forthright view on your experiences with your car.

As someone who currently lives in a country where the public and media are afraid to criticize anything the government does, for fear of retribution, I'm particularly sensitive to this kind of thing.

Never forget the value of free speech.

-Jeff
You've got that right.

You never value free speech more here than when you live in a country without it.

Believe me....I've been there, and so have others on here.

There is, however, a stark difference between speaking freely to make a valid and valued point, and speaking just to be heard. We often have too little of the former, and too much of the latter on here.

Tom has some legitimate issues with his car that he is taking positive steps to correct, with competent help from others. In the end it will be a well sorted-out car and worth somewhat more than his asking price.

In the end, it is up to each of us to prove the worth and value of each of our cars if we choose to sell them. They ALL have warts of some sort, and it is up to the buyer and seller to discuss the cars as individual items and come to a mutual agreement to their worth. Saying "ALL cars from so-and-so" are junk" is just as ridiculous as saying "ANY car from CMC is junk" and then looking at some of the stellar cars built by individuals lurking on here.

Every Replicar version has great and not-so-great examples - everybody knows that, too. It's up to the buyer to become educated and know what he or she is buying and, as always, Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware. Those who do their homework will win.

Good luck, Tom, in selling your cars, getting your business restructured and getting on with your life. If I didn't have another kit to build with my affordable money already tied up in it I would have already called you - that car would be perfect for Kathy and me....

gn
Alan and Steven your post is so spot on!!!! How some of you have the nerve to critize Tom for posting the FACTS of All the problems he was and is having with his car manufacture, never mind one being held accountable for what they build and sell to the public!!!!! Are we a bit concerned for the self-steem of Mr.JPS and maybe all of this criticism may hurt his feelings or what is it??? And since when does anyone have the right to comment on when, how and how much we should sell our cars for??? IT IS NOT ANYONE'S BUSINESS.....

Gerd, I don't know nor I care to know what you wrote Tom on that letter but I can just imagine, it sounds to me that your only concern is that by Tom posting the problems with his car and JPS , it will hurt the sell of yours, big shame on you....I'm sure if this was you, you be all over it like flies on Sh**t. Iam sick and tired of your nasty comments, and no, I'm not sounding like your ex..my taste is not up my ass.

enough said, some of you really pissed me off.....
God, I love this site....
I can see arguements for both sides, so I won't say anything, BUT, If I was in the market for a speedster, (which I will be, in time) I think I would have a hard time having JPS build me a new one, where I could easily buy a used JPS that has had any problems sorted....
That being said, I don't see the resale of a JPS being Jepordized by these obvious negative threads....
just my opinion....
Oh, Esther.... what a wonderful country where everyone is entitled to their own opinion...Just because Gerd and Warren don't see eye to eye with most on this subject, does not mean they are a$$holes, of course that also does not mean their not....
What the hell do I know.....
Warren - Tom is selling the car in the classified thread. He will get his price and he doesn't need your commentary.

Tom - It sucks that things didn't work out. Now you know and you can work with the special edition boys again on your next one.

Vince - Stop acting like a sissy, they'll take your horns...and thanks for realizing that these cars are supposed to be fun.

Jim - beef jerky ain't gonna be substantial enough the way this things being drug out.

see you all soon.
