A generic unit from Harbor Freight will work or any truck cap supplier will have one. You only need a light pressure unit...like about 12-15 lbs. Length needed will vary with your mount locations and lengths are measured with compressed and full extended numbers. The close end ( rearmost ) of the deck lid hinge down to the lower part of the firewall seems to work ok.

Here's the write-up I did when I added struts to my frunk.

That's a very good write-up.
Has anyone done the rear trunk. The front struts was a nice job.

@Cole Thompson- added a strut to the rear deck lid. He also added an electric led release.
Attached is the video of my gas strut engine lid lift. I don't an electronic release however, that must be someone else.
I did however, install a second cable emergency release under the driver's rear fender well. When the boot cable goes bad, you can still get in. But when the back cable goes bad...you're in a world of hurt!

That was me that did the solenoid release. Second post of this thread. The reason was that my trunk release cable broke and the new one wouldn't feed through the original steel tube casing. I took the easy way out and followed Cole's excellent lead with the gas strut.
