Dave,

The colour is great, and exceptionally well complimented by the interior.  One question though, you stated: "the exhaust note is tolerable--somewhere between soft rorty and bla-a-at".  Could you expound on tolerable?  Did you wish it to be quieter, or louder?  What do you think your solution will be?  Enjoy the drive, fantastic!

I'll stick with the current exhaust for awhile    in time I may check out what type would be quieter but still a center outlet and try that    interestingly  have some hearing loss so I need some assist from the SOC'ers ar Carlisle about how it sounds inside and outside the car     I seem to fit in with the tomato can muffler Japanese drift cars nicely right now

Phil:

Sounds similar to mine, but without the cat.  Has a nice growl when you punch it, though.

Love the looks of your car's derriere (thought I would throw in a little French in case you were in Montreal).  Love the Carrera look with the bee hives.  Nice.  Assuming you have parallel magnaflows each draining 2 cylinders coming into a single center pipe.  With a straight 4 I have one exhaust manifold on the drivers side feeding a cat then 2 mufflers all hooked up in a line.  In many ways I think that my car is probably the most unconventional out of the group. Don't think I could ever achieve the look of that posterior with my car.

Ron,

My VS has separate mufflers per each side (Cylindrical canisters very tightly snugged up close to the valve covers) each with a separate exhaust exit.

The PO listed it as a "German Exhaust by Classic Speed Parts"

It's very blatty sounding. I wish it were mellower. Sometime ago I purchased a set of mufflers from Allen Shapiro that came off Ruby...I'm sure they have a dignified 'quality' tone to them more befitting my senior status!

Ron- I think you're talking about a dune buggy "dual cannon" exhaust" and you're right; they're not the most efficient. A regular 4 into 1 header produces significantly more power. I think Phil's referring to a Carrera style or "Sebring" exhaust.

Carl- To which are you referring to?

Sorry guys, I don't have a pic of the dual cannons...

Al, I wish I knew what I'm referring to!

Haven't been able to find any information on a "German exhaust by Classic Speed Parts". I described the System to CSP as a chromed tipped gaggle of tubing connected to stainless steel cylindrical mufflers that hang within sight under the bumper... and sort of reminds me of aluminum colored intestines spilling out.

CSP didn't respond.

Maybe somebody at Carlisle will know?

Phil,

If you are coming to Carlisle, Henry will be there, and no doubt would be glad to talk to you about what you can do with your exhaust.
