The new JPS Speedster web site is worth checking out. The information
is all there now, including specific numbers on costs and engines,
The site is well laid out and really represents JPS and the 356
Replica industry in a "legit" sort of way. I really like the new look
at JPS.

I am a loyal Vintage customer and have had a wonderful experience
with Kirk Duncan and the Speedster he built for me 14 months ago. And
I have always thought the VS web site is top notch, the best. I still
think that, and am excited about the vids that Theron may present on
ther site. So my positive comments on the improvements to the JPS
site are obviously not out of a sense of customer loyalty. It's just
nice to see "our" passion (Speedsters) shown in the best of light,
regardless of the builder. All three sites (JPS, VS, IM) now give
prospective customers a more informative source for making a
choice... As consumers, we should want the "big three" (JPS, VS, IM)
to thrive and compete. The better they do, the more available
body/trim/interior parts will be in the long term as we put miles and
years on our cars.

Anyway, as a VS owner, I just want others to check Registry member,
John Leader's nice piece of work on the JPS site. Kudos John!

I just looked at the JPS site again & saw something that I really
like as a consumer: Prices! Prices for engines, kits, turnkeys, and
parts....... something you won't find on IM's site. Not knocking IM,
it is a high quality product and the site really works well, except,
it has no prices for the web consumer to peruse. VS does a decent job
in this information, but nowhere close to the specific information
and pricing that John Steele @ JPS is now offering. I think the bar
has been raised for VS and IM from a web consumer's persective. If I
was shopping for 356 replica, the info provided through John Leader's
layout and info-bullets would be a definite attractor and would
probably lead me (as a first time buyer) to calling JPS... people
like having the numbers laid out before they deal with "sales" in car
purchasing.... JMHO.

John Leader, again a nice job, and a very nice car too. I've already
told you privately, but I want to share it here... that black and tan
JPS that John has is absolutely stunning in detail & components. I
love my VS... and wouldn't give it up. But if I did, it would only be
for one like Johns.

Anyway, the point of this thread is to encourage continued dvelopment
of the manufacturer web sites, and in them providing more web info to
prospective buyers. We all win when this occurs.

I am very seriously considering buying a turn-key speedster. Thanks to this web site I have noticed one thing, The jps speedster is more authentic pertaining to the dash and looks more authentic with the position of speakers and carpeting. Just thought I would add that little comment. Thanks for everyones posts, they have been very helpful.. John... Want to be speedster owner..

John,

I just went on the forum after being busy for awhile. Steele certainly blew me away with the cover shot. As you can see, like your example, this is a typical of JPS work. I just wish he would get a few more in our area. But naw, I want all the eyeball for a while. I've put about 16K on it since putting it on the road in June of 2001.

Talk at ya later,

I own a VS car which I had some problems with.Basically VS walked away and was of no help to remedy these issues. I met John Steele at a kit car show and after conversing with him was told to give him a call. Jonn took his time even though he did not build my car and helped me get it right. John is a true gentleman and a lover of the speedster cause. His craftsmanship is remarkable. If I had to do it again John Steele is the man. John had nothing to gain but still took time out from his busy world to help me. When the going got tough John was there for me.

Following my engine fire John Steele emailed to say let him know what parts I need to fix the damage, that he would prepare an insurance estimate for me to submit and would take calls from the insurance company should they have any questions. What a guy. Rather than going back stock I ordered a few custom parts (louvered engine lid, over-sized gas tank with through the hood fill neck). John worked with me and patiently answered all my questions. Great guy to talk with on the phone. I wish his business all the success it deserves.

I am sure Vintage would have done the same, ditto Henry at IM; I am not doing anything more than giving credit where credit is due.

Thanks John.
