First let me say hello, and that I am very glad to have found this site, not only is it informative but you are so polite, its just nice to see. My name is William, and I live in Sacramento, CA. 43 years old, married with one son, 3 years old, lol started late. I have always been more into motorcycles and older cars of the muscle variety but now have an undeniable urge to get a speedster, and have learned much here and thank you for that! I promise I am not writing this with any intention of causing a stir, but while researching past posts I noticed a difference of opinion in lieu of financing your speedster, while I agree with cash being the best option and understanding not financing a toy, I have to put in my two cents, assuming you are an honest person, financing a car can be looked at another way, instead of the glass half empty he may not make the payment, may walk away etc., the glass half full says, your stimulating the economy, you work, you make your payments, someone else makes a living building, banks make money, you know what I mean, just do what your supposed to and all is good. Of course as you can tell I intend to finance my first speedster, and not for about six months, but I am so looking forward to it. Thank you everyone and I hope my computer illiterate typing hasn't come out too awfully, thanks folks for letting me in, I love it.

Will,

Welcome to the insanity she call madness. There are about ten owners around Sacramento, Ernie, Bob, Terry, Dale and others. Not many as young as you :-)

Go to Sacramento Raceway on Memorial Day and meet some of the other owners. It costs too much for entry, but there is a lot more going on than speedsters, third party VW stuff and about a hundred cars for show. Amazing color and creativity.

Finance your house, your business, but consider not going into debt for a toy, and don't suck equity out of your home. There is a future don't you see.

Troy,

It's a regional bank and the car is registered as a 57 VW.
But,
The bank did a little research and even called Kirk and decided to make a new car loan. Good credit dosen't hurt either:)
Small town banks in Texas don't just have money to lend, they are actualy lending it!

We treat it like a new car......just one I can work on.
Some days I even treat it like a stolen new car.....well maybe not that bad.

Funny thing is all the local cops have been around to check it out. They don't think they can beat it.....I'll let them keep thinking that. One of them challenged me to a race but backed out when his buddies convinced him he couldn't beat the Speedster.
