Hi all,

just a quick introduction. I just purchased a really cool Auratium Green JPS coupe from fellow member Chris Hendrix. It was a complete impulse buy as I'm a long time VW restorer/builder and porsche enthusiast and just figured it was the best of both worlds and had to have it.

Chris was awesome to deal with. We made a deal over the phone last Sunday and by Tuesday morning I was on a flight from so cal to Austin,TX to pick it up. By 3pm I was on the road and drove straight through to temecula,CA only stopping for coffee and gas along the way. 22hrs and 1350 miles later, I pulled up in my garage and immediately crawled underneath the car to lower the front end! I did sleep well that night though

anyways, the Jeff Gervais built 2332 ran flawlessly all the way home and I'm thoroughly impressed with the whole JPS package. Makes me wish I'd got one a long time ago.

i'm already making some styling changes to the car, so I'll update along the way.

cheers,

pip hancox.

LOL Terry, I have one friend on Facebook for that reason.  When it was new a client who was also an old girlfriend sent me an email to register.  I had no idea what it was so I did.  I never went on to Facebook after registering.  A few weeks or later a neighbor (women) came to my house and said to my wife are you on "Facebook?"

I was not home.  My wife said, "what is Facebook?" So this women says "let me show you, lets' look up your husband"   So after the search they find me.  Guess what? My only friend was a smoking hot blonde.  So when I got home that evening I get the "who is blank blank question?"  It was totally innocent but I had to explain myself away for something I did not even really now or do.  It spooked me pretty good so I stayed away until I saw the we had the Speedster site several years later. To this day I only mess with the Speedster Group FB.

I do plan to set up a FB page for business one day.  BTW my wife is on FB now, LOL

Pip, Nice Car!

Still friends with the neighbor, Marty?

I stayed away for the same reasons; didn't want to be hassled by my past and I didn't want to be some sheep playing Farmville or Bejeweled Blitz. Also, I was worried my privacy would be compromised. Then a friend showed me that I could change my settings to make me "stealth like ninja", so I registered.

I've had to ignore several friend requests and "unfriend" a few, but it has been nice to reconnect with others and it's a great conduit for communication and photos with friends and family, especially the grandkids.

Thanks again for the welcome guys.

hmm, well no I'm not into the whole Facebook thing for reasons listed above by others and I don't see me trying to figure out a photobucket acct so I'll maybe set up a thread on the samba showing the progress. What a shame

i frequent many of the VW and porsche forums and have no problem posting pics on any of them. Oh well, I will certainly visit here often and look forward to meeting some of you.

thanks again,

pip.

Hi Pip,

It might be true that it is not as easy to post your pictures on this site than some other sites but it can be done as you might have noticed of some pictures posted by Gerd on this site.

Did you see the events thread on going to Rudder room this 25th? You'll meet some of the So Cal people.

I am looking forward to see what you do on that coupe, I might want to see the mods maybe it will apply to mine.

He's running an iPad. Since Steve Jobs threw a hissy fit over the flash(tm) platform 5 or so years ago, he can't load the flash player on his Apple device.

Good ole Steve Jobs, making decisions for you long after you've paid for it.

Laner...perhaps you can help me be able to upload pics again too.  I used to be able to do it, ( used to be a "supporting member" too ) but I'm no longer able. I select the pic I'd like to upload and it freezes consistently at 192 KB. There's no way out of it but to give up and hit the Cancel button. I asked Theron about it and got some help but no solution.

I'd like to be supporting member but am nervous about the re-cycling of my credit card info.

Any ideas....any encouragement about safety of the cc number ? Do you think I might be more successful about posting pics if I was a supporting member? I'm not that computer literate but at this point I can't even change my avatar pic which makes me think I've got an internal problem here.

Thanks....
