Well, thanks guys.

Yes it is a cheap Empi firewall kit, but under it I have sound deadening. I really think the deadening makes a difference. I also used home depot plumbing chrome rings to trim the holes in the firewall.

The retro sound radio is cool, but I really thought that digital read out looked cheap. so after downloading Blaupunkt screens and trying to replicate one with plastic, etc... I simply went to ebay and found a screen face and frame  (costly  -$150) and modified them to fit.  Company name is Retro Blau. Funky guy, but he has the parts.

Awesome work.  And then you for sharing.  Definatelly motivational.  Beautiful car.

On the radio front--- Would you be able to send me the link to the eBay store/ guy you dealt with?

im in the proces of trying to restore another blaupunkt on a '59 Austin, and decent part guys/ restoration sources are hard to find.

i have dealt with a guy in NY a couple of times http://www.vintageblau.com/home.html   ....Good restoration and parts shop as well as hood inventory of radios on hand.  He makes his radios iPod/USB/smartphone compatible... But not cheap.  Great great work though.

on my VS I took the Retrosound path as well... It was cheaper than a restored/modified blaupunkt , and I dealt with the screen using their euro style screen protector... 3 for 9$s.  Not as cool as what you have done or an original green dial print face of the early 356 radios, but it did the trick for me.

Side note - got an extra one if anyone wants it. Could Mail via us post ... It's just sitting in the tool box collecting dust. Just send me a PM.

thank you for sharing...
