I just visited Vintage Speedsters yesterday... the cars are beautiful. So, I sat in my first speedster and immediately noticed that the steering wheel and pedals are all off-set to the right of the driver by a couple inches. Is this normal? I suppose I could get used to the steering wheel. Is there any kind of a kit for adjusting where the clutch pedal is located? I just couldn't get used to that? One more thing, is there any kit for shortening the linkage in the shifter...it's far too long a distance between gears.

That's a function of the geometry of the VW pan used as the base. Those vendors that produce their own chassis don't have that issue. That said, there are a lot of pan-based Speedsters out there that folks love. The pan versus tube-frame issue is a recurrant holy war in these parts. Both have advantages and disadvantages. I'd suggest doing a search on the site to study them so you'll know what you're looking at. Either way, it's fun.
