Looks like a baby SSR. They really need to work on their patina technique though.
Good way to salvage a big rear end job.

That's what she said...
heeeyyohhhh!?!
Thank you. I'll be here all week. Tip your bartender.
/me drops the mic
I'm giving that a thumbs up. The car, not TRP's joke.
Looks to be nicely done and, while painted-on rust stains are not my style I think it looks pretty convincing in the pictures.
It's cool that they've included steps just forward of the rear fenders to allow you to reach into the truck bed, when the thing is so low and small that you could stand on the ground and reach all the way across the back.
I'm not sure what they're trying to pull but in the second photo there is a Florida plate on the back. In the fourth and tenth photo there is a California plate on the front of the car. And in the sixteenth photo there is an unknown (to me) state plate on the back and it isn't Florida.
This truck/VW gets around.
Looks like someone had fun. I applaud the builder for building something different and from the first glance, pretty well done.
I like it, but the close up photos show a lot of fit and finish issues. Still, a neat little car pickup if the price stays low.
The pickup definitely is one of a kind. Here's a little number Alice and I saw in Prague last year.
The surprising thing is that it was made in the USA according to a plaque mounted on the car.
Sort of like "Batman meets a Bug"
A quick check shows truck bugs are pretty popular.
My car was a truck Bug flatbed before it became a TDr. Well, sort of. The PO had a '66 Bug, which got hit, so he made a flatbed of it and rebuilt the engine. Then the garage it was in got demolished by a couple drunk kids riding in something big and heavy on prom night. The bug truck was destroyed, but the engine still good.
So the PO bought the TD kit and got a new pan and built that around the engine.
Course I just sold that engine for $200, replaced with the Subaru mill.
But, still: truck roots!
Whatever help you sleep nights, Ed.
Truck ROOTS, Beyitchahs!
Here's what I thinK: Up here around and north of the Mason-Dixon Line, some serious snow-aided cabin fever is setting in. Just sayin' . . .
ROOOTS!!! ROOOOOOOOTS!
AWROOOOOOO!
Now Ed, calm down. There will be some nice people in a van showing up very soon. They have some tasty pills for you and a really cool jacket that you should try on. Trust me, it'll fit you.
