Just had my torsion bars adjusted at a local VW shop and was asking them about my Kadron carbs and they told me they are not Kadrons. They said they did not know what they were, but they were certain they were not Kadrons. They say they are single barrel and appear to be about 34MM. I'm sure Kirk told me they were Kadrons and now I don't know what to think.
Anyway, what ever they are, I had them add a balance tube, adjust the carbs and do a tune-up and the car runs much better now. They recommend that if I want better performance from my 1915 I need to replace the carbs and the exhust, but I guess we all already know that.

Seems thtat Kirk told me they were Kadrons. Can't remember for sure.

I will get some SOC buddies to eyeball them at Carlisle though.
They are single barrels and really there are just two adjustments---the idle and the mixture so I can work with that.

I have no complaints about how they work as the car runs great but the mileage is poor. I am not looking forward to stoppiung for fuel every 130 miles on the way to Carlisle from Hot Springs, AR though---1,100 miles = 9 fuel stops.

Thanks for the comments---what a great site this is!---Jack
Jack: Two things:

1. Steve Perry started out from Rhode Island to Carlisle last year and was getting 16 - 18 MPG on his first tank. By the time he got to Carlisle he was in the lower to mid 20's MPG, and by the time he got home again was in the upper 20's.....Might be the same with you. they just build up crud in the system over time and get better once it all gets blown out.

2. In addition to the idle and mixture adjustment, there is also the float level (crucial and the base upon which everything else is built for overall mixture) and the size of the jets. Float level is easy to set, but you may need a top cover gasket for the carbs as the topmust be removed ot set the float level. Jet setting is a time consuming, exacting business - maybe your son could help with that.
