Vince just posted a shot of his nice new K-G, and I know Mike Cochrane bought one last year.

Anyone else have one of these cars?

Mine is a '68 Cabriolet, pictured here after my father-in-law had it restored. He has since given it back to me. Mary and I travelled from Ontario to P.E.I. in that car on our honeymoon, and it ran like a dream.

I've been collecting VWs for the past 8 years and have had the pleasure of owning multiple Karmann Ghias. The best being a 1958 convertible. Even though I don't have one in my current stable of cars, I do have a predecessor of the Ghia in the form of my 1954 Sunroof Beetle & my 1956 Karmann Convertible.

My wife bought a new K-Ghia in 1972. It Lived on the East Coast when it was new, then California for several years.
When her Job brought us back to the East Coast, "Ruby" ,that's the
K-Ghias name, had already been in storage for 2 years.
My wife names all her cars and motorcycles
Everyone kept telling her to sell it! She had a company car by then, and didn't really need her "Ruby" any more.
But she's not like that... she still refers to it as her One and Only.
To make a long story short. Ruby is stored in our garage, I keep winter storage insurance on it, so when the mood strikes, we can take her out for a drive.
I've restored it twice, It's amazing how storage takes it's toll. After a couple of years setting, everything needs fixing. Wheels usually rust so they get replaced along with tires, brakes sieze up. Interior trys growing things, and on and on. But I keep fixing it, After all, it's her One and Only. Ruby is 34 this year.

PS.
her Harley Davidsons name is "Precious" .
I had a 1970 K-G Coupe. Did most of the resto work myself-new engine, interior, headliner, dash, gauges, disc brakes all the way around, carpet kit, upholstery, rear seat, window rubber all around, new bumpers to replace the crappy nerf bars, CDI ignition, "GHIALAW" license plate. Spent too much money on the resto, but loved every minute of it. Had it 3 months completed, then got divorced. It now sits in the ex's garage...

When asked about the divorce, my answer is, "Damn, I miss that car. The girl? Nope!"

Someday I'll have another Ghia. 1958 Convertable.

Afterward, I was on the look-out for a convertable Ghia when I decided that I'd upgrade to a 356. I was also looking for a house. I was looking at a house that I liked when I walked into the garage and, lo and behold, there sat a 356 replica with a "For Sale" sign on it. Turns out the guy wanted to unload the house AND the car. I knew it was fate, and I bought both...

Here's the house:

Well gang, Just got back from Medford Oregon....
800 miles in a 67 Ghia I knew absolutly nothing about...
70-80 miles an hour and it purred like a kitten...
Previous owner says car has been in storage better part of
the last 20 years...but he did a valve adjust, oil change,
new plugs and wires, dist. cap etc, said he thought I would
have no problems back to L.A. and I didn't......
The interior is almost perfect except for the wood on the dash
which has cracks (like they all did).....rip on the driver seat..
the exterior is another story....body very straight but many
scratches etc, needs paint, but will detail both in and out first
to see what it looks like with a good bath.....At this point,
I'm just glad I got it home.......gone 2 days with an overnight
in Santa Cruz came back to 97 new posts, you guys been busy...
