Have been getting a few calls from members who've called in and are getting Marriott reps who aren't seeing the reservation. Not sure what the disconnect is. I handled a few of these myself conferencing in the hotel and the member.

One member wanted to come in Thursday night and was told there were no more rooms. The Thursday night rate is $114 and we can't get that discounted as they are a corp. hotel. But if you need Thursday, make two separate reserv's, one for Thursday and one for the rest of the weekend, that way they'll see the discounted rate for our group.

Sorry about any confusion, and feel free to call me if you run into trouble.

Mike,

Guess I'm the one you mentioned about coming in Thursday. I'll be tagging along with Steve and Angela Lane and I was able to get an confirmed resevation on one booking but at two rates, one the SOC rate for Fri-Sat but the corporate rate for Thursday and Sunday. Main thing is I have a bunk!

Looks like Sun and Fun in SoCal is going to be a sellout, fantastic!

Bruce
I just made reservations and had no problems. I paid a separate rate on Thursday eve. Then paid the SOC rate for the other eves. It took about 3 minutes. They did not ask for my e-mail, but I asked for them to send the confirmation that way. (Something others may want to do.) The e-mail confirmation comes with info and links.

Hope to see everyone there. Thanks Mike.

Jim
Question to attendees:

For those coming from great (and near) distances, and driving your cars here (as opposed to trailering them in), would you find value in having a very talented detailer on hand either Friday afternoon, and/or Saturday to give the our under-carriages a "how's your father?" I'm thinking a 1/2 detail per car (more if wanted).

Let me know your interest level and I will have a chat with my guy about minimum number of cars and cost.

Here is the hotel information:

Marriott Courtyard Aneheim Buena Park
7621 Beach Blvd.
Buena Park, CA

We (Speedster/Spyder Owners Club) have a block of 25 room available for Friday, 25 for Saturday, and 5 for Sunday for anyone planning on leaving Monday AM (let me know if we need more Sunday night holds and I'll take care of it).

Our group rate prices are as follows:
$69 per night for a king bed (up to 3 people)
$79 per night for 2 double/queen beds (up to 3 people)
(taxes are additional 10%)

The number to call for reservations is 1-800-228-9290. The name of our group is Speedster/Spyder Owners or SOC. You can make
reservations immediately (today).

The hotel will hold this block of room for us to reserve until March 25, 2005. After that, reservations will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis.

While there is no available security for our vehicles, our rooms will be blocked together in the hotel so we can park as a group outside of the rooms (safety in numbers-worked well last year).

A few more details of the event are being worked out and will be refelcted on the information web site, currently being built.

Don't hesistate to call me with questions. Thanks to all for your patience. I look forwarding to making this a fun and memorable event for all.

Thanks Mike,
Good group rate, especially when we have to add about 22% exchange on money. We appreciate any break we can get! We'll be coming back up from San Diego after a conference. When are the I-5 "storm troopers" led by Eddie, Dale, Jim, Henry or whomever takes the lead over the Grapevine, arriving??? I need to know so I can have the Molson's on ICE!
Rick
I just booked my reservations for April 22nd & 23rd for "The Replica Rondezvouz 2" at the SOC group rate at the Marriott. It looks like the 25 rooms are going fast. Thanks Mike McSween for your work setting-up this block discounted reservation arrangement. And thanks to John Leader for the cool event website. This should be the best yet for the Speedster and Spyder folks.

John bring your Reyn Spooner. We'll flip a coin for who wears theirs on which day. (I don't want to look like the "bobsie twins".)

The SubyTub owner is checking in. I have made my hotel reservations for Thursday through Sunday at the Marriot Courtyard and am looking forward to a fun filled long weekend. I have not yet talked at length with "Mr. Buttz" regarding the trip, but am hoping that there will be cooperation on that front (or is it back?). Perhaps we can make arrangements to have a crane available to extricate me from the cockpit when I arrive. In any event, thanks to Mike and Paul for their efforts and I look forward to making a bunch of new Speedster buddies in April.

Hoss,

Good deal, I'm arriving Thursday afternoon, (I think), so we'll be looking for you staggering around the parking lot! I'm sure your car will be a centerpiece for everyone! We are staying thru Sunday also so I'm sure there will be some common lunch/dinner plans along the way. Road stories, lies, truths, and just plain good Speedster chatter. Getting closer!

Bruce, "The Eagle Point Guy" (sorry Gary)
Jim Bob,

Looks good. I'm going to be tagging along with Steve and Angela and we plan on staying overnight around Willows, CA, north of Dales a little way and then hitting the dusty trail Thursday AM. Marriott ETA hopefully midafternoonish. Willows to Buena Park is about 475 so if we leave early, hopefully we'll be at the Marriott before the rush hour crush, no guarantees but that is what makes a road trip fun. Sounds like you'll have a real caravan, ought to attract some attention on 5!

I've got a duty to uphold, like Rick. I asked McSween what kind of beer he liked to pay him for the great job he did with the Marriott reservations. He said, "Anchor Steam", That is about the best beer I ever had and will be on a mission to find some for Mike and maybe a taste for you guys that never had it. It is a San Francisco brew and I had it some years ago down on Fishermans Wharf and never forgot it, Mike has good taste!

Bruce, The Eagle Point Guy, (sorry Gary)
Bruce, I think that's the plan here too. (A Thursday arrival). It hasn't been all worked out, just talked about some, but here's what I hope will happen. Weds. morning I, and I think Henry, will drive south for Dale's. I hope we pick up a few in the caravan enroute, like Scott, Brooks, and Ron (if you are coming Ron!). I am shipping a small tool/ER/car detail bag and a small duffel of So-Cal clothes to Dales. We will hook up there and hopefully the next morning we will have Eddie, Bill, Joel, Paul, Gary the V guy, and all the north/central owners joining in as we head south. Rick is coming up from San Diego wiTH the Molsons.. and hopefully we get to the parking lot before the El-Lay boys get their hands on the Molsons. Hoss, we will save an iced one for you... You will neeed it after dropping into the Mojave and making the climb from Needles. I hope Gordon and others are riding in trail with you!

Anyway, that's the plan. You know how plans go....

Excited on a sub-freezing day.

Jim
This may be premature, but I am seriously considering hosting a BBQ the WEDS night before Knotts. I live in Dixon and there are a couple of nice motels in town just off I-80, between Vacaville and Davis (North Dixon, to the locals) I was planning on leaving Thursday, early morning and heading through the country (hwy 12) for I-5 just north of Stockton. I am hoping that several of the Northern contingent will BBQ and then spend the night either at a local motel on sacked out at my place. (I have not negotiated the house cleaning fee with my daughter yet) Last year several of us met at the first rest stop south of Tracy on I-5 and that worked pretty well.

All of you speedster guys (roadster guys too) in the area are invited to the BBQ, but you will need to bring your own beverage. I will let you all know more as time gets closer.

Dale,

Nice looking home you have there! Looks like the Bates Motel from "Psycho". That's right, you are Mr. Bates, far out. If you have a BBQ with liquid resfreshmants, maybe figure an hour later start in the morning, LOL. Keep us posted on your plans, Maybe Steve and Angela and their kids could be persuaded to travel a little farther on Wendsday evening. Sounds like fun!

Bruce. "The Eagle Point Guy"
Thanks a lot Dale! Go ahead and have all this fun the year that I am driving down a week early for a conference! Nice going Mr. Bates! Just kidding, have a ball and we'll be waiting with some cold Canadian "hangover cure" at the Marriott on Thursday afternoon. If anyone sees a cream colored Speedster sporting wide whites bombing down I-5 the weekend before Knotts, that will be us! See y'all there.
Rick
Paul,
I did. In order to do the BBQ, I am leaving my wife in Maui for for 3 days without me. Our trip was scheduled the week before Knotts and I told her I have to leave our vacation early to wax the car and be rested for the long, boring drive south. Kind of makes me feel like Im single again! Hope you come up for the Que and drive down with us. A repeat of last year with out the drama! Henry will be here as will Big Jim Ward.
