Brooks,

Got a logistics problem in order to have you as a right seat navigator. I am living about 35 miles North of the CA border and that is a fur piece from Seattle. I am leaving Wednesday afternoon and staying overnight around Willows and then doing the I-5 shuffle into Knotts on Thursday. Maybe you could catch a cheap RT from Seattle to LA and get up to the hotel via a bus. There are plenty of rides available at the hotel to run you over to the show field both days. A RT fare might even be cheaper than a OW of you get it early enough.

Keep us posted, Bruce
Hi all:
Reservations made. I could only get a room with two beds. If we run out of rooms, someone can share mine.
I am driving out of Eugene so if anyone who is comin thru would let me know when I'd like to hook up.
Ralph

Ps: In my total experinence if they claim they are out of the discounted rate go to Travelocity or Expedia and I am almost certain that rate will be matched.
Bruce,
Are you guys trailering or driving south? Dixon is only about 80 miles south of Willows and that would make your Thursday drive about 1 1/2 hours less. Come on down, I'm cooking 'dogs and 'burgs. If you want something else, you will need to bring it because Er zijn geen katten in de buurt.

Dale,

I'm going to be tagging along with Steve and Angela Lane, My 'lil red Speedy will be with their Spyder in the trailer, (I know, but after my age and last years trauma, sure you understand). We are leaving Wendsday afternoon and don't know if we'll make it that far. We'll talk it over, sounds like it would be a fun event and plenty of company to share the I-5 shuffle with. Plans are not complete yet but if it looks like we leave earlier, then we might shoot for Dixon. It is fun to be able to plan these things again after a long winter!

If we can't make it, then leave a couple of hot dogs at the Tracy rest stop where we gathered last year for the infamous run into Knotts.

Thanks for the invite!

Bruce
Bruce, you all need to come on down! In the morning you all could run center lane interference when we are caravaning through the metros. Scott, Henry, and I will be heading south Weds. and hopefully a couple of others. Thursday should be fun as we pick up more in trail leaving Dale's. If we can get Eddie to come my $$ says he leads the pack when it's a free for all on the Grapevine.

(Besides I need you around to remind me to check my oil cooler lines twice Bruce!)

Excited, damn excited.

Jim
Paul and Mike,

Yeah, talked to my Hotel contact and she contacted the hotel maintainence staff. I remember I had to go to the desk on Friday morning to remind them, but they did it. Had to laugh, the hose ran to a faucet inside the housekeeping supervisors office. They gave us a bucket and I think a sponge also. Gary, the Vacaville guy supplied us all with chamois, thanks Gary!

Paul and Jim Bob supplied the sounds, almost like that classic movie "Car Wash", but we were not movin' and groovin' like those guys were, LOL!

Bruce
Paul & Bruce,

We may have not been rockin' while we washed Paul's Speedy, but we we were achin' and shakin' to a great CD! I do recall a very nice looking book-keeper that we talked into the cars. I wish Paul had hosed her and Gary had used his wax on her while Bruce took pictures and I peeked from behind the shrubs.. I mean that in a nice way... Sorta.

Jim, a.k.a., the Ruby Red Rider

Mike, what if the local talent just happened to show up for photo ops? I know of at least one member's vision of our Speedsters arriving enmass on Saturday morning with some Starlets sitting on the right seat top. A slowwwwwww parade past the Cobra boys would set the mood just DNFP.

You guys! I wonder how many bugs I will smash on the way from TN. I assume that the first task for me will be cleaning off the bug juice and carcasses. Yuck! There won't be any salt to wash off from the high elevation part of the trip, will there?

On another note, Sarah wanted to inform any ladies who view car shows similarly that she plans to rent a car so that she can make trips off site to areas of local interest and/or shopping. After all, one 30 minute pass through the field is plenty right? No accounting for taste.
John H
bug scrubbing geezer from E.TN.
John,
There's alot of really fun things to do in Buena Park area if car shows are not your thing. We plan on arriving early and going to Universal Studios park on Friday with the kids. There's Disney, Universal, obviously Knotts etc. And of course, killer shopping EVERYWHERE!!! I think for your fair half to rent a car and go do her own thing would be really fun for her. I would suspect she could wind up with company from others who have had plenty of car shows.

As for me, I plan to hang around and lie about how fast my car goes!
angela

Angela, thanks, I'm sure Sarah will come up with something interesting to do. She used to go to a conference in Laguna Beach every year and we have taken a couple of trips to SoCal together for other purposes. We're both looking forward to having a good time doing our own things. BTW, you won't have to lie about how fast your car goes, you may have ample opportunity to show us ;-)
John H
John,

That sounds like a plan! How far from the Marriott is the Donut shop?
I'd bet on Steve and Angela being the pacesetters in their Spyder. What time do we need to get up to catch a donut or two, Krispy Kremes?

We'll talk this up Friday night over dinner and a few Anchor Steams,Shiners, and PBR's for you real connisuers, (sp?)

Starting to get excited now!

Bruce
As the leader of the misguided few from last year, I second the suggestion that this tour is a must do. I think it's about 30 minutes from Knotts via #5 and #55 to Newport Beach then Pac Hwy south towards Laguna. Starts before 07:00 and begins to wind down by 08:30. I plan to check it out when I'm down there for the Porsche Lit/Toy meet on Feb 5. Perfect way to start any Saturday is a face full of the finest exotic machinery money can buy, and lots of it!
Hey John H., my bride will likely be interested is riding shotgun with your's in that rent-a-shopping car while at Knotts. See you there.
Rick
Bruce,
I dont remember how far it was but time wise, the gathering of exotics was about 144 hours away! I have to say though, it was a real nice drive, we had a nice relaxing time at starbucks, and drove by European Collectables on the return trip. Rick is a great sport about it and personally, I will tease him about it every year! An old man like me needs something to focus on! Man, I love this group!
Bruce, please refer to me as Mr. Jim Ward now that I have a new IM. If you say Jim Bob I'll jump out of my Custom Built 56 GS Carrera Intermeccanica with cool Bivens, and Vinatge Hellas, and the Frankfurt and I will stomp my feet, turn red, cry, and have the biggest damn hissy fit you ever saw. Right there at the pit stop. So there! Phhhhht!

Mr. Jim, as in Bob, Ward (Ego? I have no Ego you hooligan rabble!)
Mr. Ward, as in JB Ward

Please hold your tantrum and rant until we all get to the donut shop and we mere mortals point out to the moneyed Ferrari and Lambo drivers that your wheels are indeed Faux! If you keep up the "better than you" routine we will short sheet your bed, demand several rounds of drinks, and a ernest apology, OK? We will also supervise your car washing tasks, pointing out paint runs, stone chips and other flaws!

Just took Speeedy out for run as long as the sun was shining, ran good. I think it knows it is going to Buena Park and no trauma this year!

Bruce, "The Eagle Point Guy" sorry Gary
Dear Bruceth Of The Northwest,

The Coffee Shop Crowd will see my Family Crest painted on both doors (below) and will part ways so I can lead the climb up the canyon. You can ride with me if you bring a cold Shiner Bock for my pleasure.

Sir Jimmith Bobeth Of The Red Dirt Kingdom (Okiedom)
Sir Jim,

Wow, I am impressed. A crest! Does your outdoor privy have one on its door also? LOL. I'll see about what I can do on the Shiners and also the Anchor Steam for Squire Mike.

I just talked to an old buddy in Illinois and they say they are getting blowing snow and very cold temps. Makes me happy to be "Outa There."

I think our family crest has a pair of handcuffs on it, don't know why!

Bruce
Jim, I will be arriving at about 11:30 on friday at SNA, John Wayne Aiport. If your wife or anyone else for that matter needs a ride just let me know and we will coordinate. I am getting a rental car and can bring her with me to the hotel or wherever you guys are at on Friday.

I'm coming in on flight AA705 from DFW to SNA.
Sorry about that guys....since Jim knows airport shorthand I did it the quick way and left everyone else wondering?? I don't have much time right now, because I'm in class at FSI....Flight Safety International (training). If I had said DSM to DFW to SNA you might have understood what the heck I was telling him. But it wasn't as bad as that binary code thread???
Thomas, it was meant as self deprecating humor. The crest was ripped off of a site just to have fun with my friend Bruce. The reference to the second half as certified was as in 'loony', again an attempt at self deprecating humor.

Thomas, Archie Bell and the Drells sang Do The Tighten Up, but maybe you ought to try doing the Lighten Up. It's No BFD to me though..

Jim
