I loved it. You covered lots of ground and still spent plenty of time with the Speedster group. You caught you doing what I was doing most of the weekend....talking to people who were curious about my car. I guess being different from the rest was why I was kept so busy; nearly starved to death....I just couldn't seem to get away.
I want a dash like the one at 13:16 -- especially, I want a switch that reads "Up/Down."
I made a link to it so I can watch it over and over for idea value. Great stuff! And it's nice to put names and faces together, too -- thanks for pointing out who was who!
... But I do want to F---'n kill the guy who owns the GT-40 WITH MY PAINT JOB! (14:10)
LOL....I had only had the camera for a short while, the video lacks any skill, technique, artistry, or composition.....but it does give you an idea of all the cars there, I wish I could have more people taking on it, but people seemed to not really want to talk to a camera...I can't really blame them.

Angela, there is some video of your car....it inspires me.
Glad you still like it Steve - you would like it much better with the new engine. I didn't see it in the video, but the video is GREAT! How fun to see all those cars again. Baron's Gullwing was one of my favorite cars - looks like it caught your eye too. I couldn't talk him into lifting the hood for a peek though. That was disappointing!

Wow! How did I get this old? Back in about '63, Knotts had no asphalt, only tree lined gravel parking lots. Me and my buddie, armed with a quart of Country Club each (supplied by his big brother), would drive out there on Friday nights. Cruising in my '50 Chevy while listening to KFWB and lookin' for babes. There was no addmission charge then. I don't think they even had a fence around the joint!
Ernie -

You're right, there was no fence at that time (I think the fence was added in 1968). So we would just walk in, buy a cup of Boysenberry juice (add your preferred intoxicant here) and then watch the babes go by or trip-out in the shop with all the glow-in-the-dark religious artifacts.

When we got bored of that we'd cruise over to the Alligator Farm or Japanese Deer Park while listening to XERB pirate radio with Wolfman Jack (I'm guessing you remember these attractions as well).

Are we really that old?!...and if we are, how did we LIVE THIS LONG?!
Actually that isn't our car. It is a nice car and its my favorite color (black) but definately not ours. Ours is quite a bit different, fuchs, single mirror, no exposed gas filler and the 6. We were not in the speedster row, we parked over with Thunder Ranch. This pic is the new engine (way better than the one you saw at Knotts - that engine was a poorly assembled pig).

Oh I know - to you "cool" speedstah guys all the spyders look the same! lol

I loved that little trailer too, had forgotten about that until I saw your video - thanks for sharing.

I think it was Lexan, but I don't remember for sure. I had a local glass shop cut them using the tops of the old air cleaners as a template. I cracked the first set by over-tightening (DOH) the retaining bolts. Had two more sets made up, one is still in the plastic, this is the other.

They seem to be holding up very well. The air horns were just too pretty to cover...
