John, Thanks for taking those pictures, I wish you had used another lens, because I am neither that old , or fat, in real life.

What a great opportunity to meet everyone. I want to thank all you guys for the hospitality, good nature, info that was shared. I always thought that the Bonneville racing community was full of great guys, but this was amazing, no ego's showed, cars were beautiful, and everyone seemed to just have a good time.
Hope to see all of you again at other shows, and will certainly be able to put a face with your posts here on the forum.
Theron, Thanks for the goody bags. Bruce and John, thanks for all your hard work to pull this thing together. Paul and Dale thanks for being local, and while I'm at it.....Thanks GB for NOT being at Knotts'

Gary deserves a big thank you even if he is old, fat, opionated and came in a Jeep...He showed up to help, he brought goodies of his own to share with the group; one of the most beneficial being the sunscreen wipes...for me it was too late, my nose is now a lot older, a heap bit bigger (until it finishes peeling)and damn near matches my shirt in color, when it is not ensconced in zinc oxide, ouch.

He also brought the sort of spirit and coma*raderie an event needs to get past the edgy first handshakes and howdies, although kissing Theron was going a little too far...but it takes two to tango, as they say!

Great shots John, it does look as if Jim had some special red dirt magic going on with the ladies.

I'm certain you right coasters are chomping at the bit and will also have a great time meeting one another and seeing many of the much anticpated project cars and legends of our sport...

Hmmm, at 17 MPG and 100+ MPH I wonder how long it would take to get to Carlisle or thrown in debtor's prison for good, or jail?

Oh and one final comment then I am really, really going to go and take a nap...Those InterMcManiac carzzz are really tits! Rode in two over the weekend and what a benchmark for the industry.

No Bruce....I have a brand new speedster that I built with MY hands. Took 14 months to do it, didn't pay someone else for their skill, I used my own. I chose not to run it 1500 miles to Knott's and back because I only have 250 miles on it, and the first major service is due at 300 miles, didn't want to over ride it before retorqueing the heads. I love Pauls ride, watched it all thru the engine program.

Just have absolutely no use for GB. I never bad mouthed his car, I might even steal it on a cold dark night. Met Henry at Knotts, and admire his work.....it's just a personality thing...GB doesn't have one and I will never forget his ignorant insults to me.

Other than that, just ask anyone who was a Knotts, I'm a car guy through and through, and I admire anyone who uses skill instead of cash to express himself.

Gary,

I also built my car myself but took longer than 14 months. Sometimes it takes the guys who don't have the time but have the money and desire to allow the skilled builders to do something different (read outstanding) and set new directions in an industry. For example, if you follow street rods, the AMBR (America's Most Beautiful Roadster) and Riddler Awards are two of the most sought after awards in Streetrodding. The guys vying for the trophies are frequently paying builders upwards of $500K or more to build the contenders - some of the most gorgeous rods around. They're setting the bar for other builders and folks who set out to build their own.

I prefer not to spend that kind of bucks to have a car built but applaud guys like George Brown who pay to let builders like Henry Reisner and others build something just a little bit better and set the bar just a little higher. I had the opportunity to see George's previous Speedster (now owned by Karl Macklin) in October and can't wait to see his new one in May. I think there's room for all of us - builder and buyers.

As for the personal attacks, I was not around for what may have happened before but in my eyes (and apparently in others) the continued negative shots take this site down a notch. Time to bury the hatchet.
Bruce....I built and raced Bonnevile cars, Built a Jaguar with Vette engine for my wife, built a 23 t roadster, and numerous other vehicles.

As I stated, my arguement is not with you or what is probably a beautiful car that you personally built. ( love to see it!) My arguement is not with the magnificent car that Henry built. My arguement is with a person who made cutting, arrogant, and inconsiderate remarks to me personally. I have not made dispareging remarks about him for over a year, but it is not an exageration to say that 30-40% of the guys on this forum have had a pissing match with GB, and they only ended after he called them an "idiot" or worse.
As in the past I will not spill this crap over onto the members of this board, and will cease reference to him, but the hatchet stays above ground until I get a personal apology from him. Too many great guys on this forum have either been cowed, or just left because of him. I for one, will stand my ground,,,,,,,,,,,but for the time being, and in respect for you Bruce, and others, I'll keep it to myself.
