That is really cool! Never seen one before. Tempting...
It certainly is a 1950's design - futuristic, as they tried to style back then.
I just tripped over this on YouTube last night.
Hagerty Barn Find on one-off fibreglass cars.
It's a great look at some unusual fibreglass kits from back then.
This is the first one I've seen with VW power. Most had either British (MGA or TR3) power, or had cut-down chassis from American cars in them. This one looks pretty darned solid and you could do some interesting things with it.
From the article: "The windshield glass is actually from a 50's Chevrolet truck, but set in upside down."
Can you just imagine how long it took to find that particular windshield, figure out that it would work if installed upside down and then designing the molded windshield frame around it? And this was done before we had computer aided design tools that would tell you what was working in the design and what was not as you went along.
That stuff, done in that era in the hey-day of kit car design, blows me away.
I'm surprised at all the positive comments. Not my cup of tea at all. The white one in the second photo reminds me of a pregnant guppy.
That car with the right neoclassic colors and interior would be stunning and easy to do . If it wasn't on the left coast I would seriously consider doing it up.
@Gordon Nichols, I thought the same thing about the upside down truck windshield. I am not sure how I feel about the overall design. I don't like the hood scoop. I wonder how air gets to the engine.
I think you have it wrong, Gordon. I think the designer had a windshield laying around and decided he’d design a car around it.
I can all but guarantee Lane's right on that.
I like the car too, sans the hood scoop.
Too bad the Judson blower is gone. Probably bumped that little engine up to 42 horsepower.
