"That design was so far foward, so ahead of its time, it had to send all car designers back to the table. "

In 1938 that's exactly where they were sent, right back to the drawing tables, and a little more than year later they came up with the Lancia 3RO heavy truck chassis. This was essentially a gun platform, usually mounted with the ubiquitous Autoconnone 90/30 (pretty much a Naval Cannon like those utilized at Tobruk), a VERY powerful vehicle seeing the most action in the Northern Africa.
That had to be RADICAL in 1938!!! no fenders, one piece body and a nod to aerodynamics( considering to were no windtunnel testing of autos).

Battista "pinin" Farina's Cisitalia 202 didn't come out until 1947.

That design was so far foward, so ahead of its time, it had to send all car designers back to the table.

Porsche's ugly Rome-Berlin racecar(think beetle with frt and bk fender skirts, type 60k I think) wasnt made until 1939. The 001 was not made until 1948(TEN years after this car).

This car really had to be the stuff of dreams in 1938.

The regular Aprilia looked like a 4 door VW beetle.
"My dream car from back then is a 1936 Ford Coupe!"

A B S O L U T E L Y ! ! ! ! !

You have SUCH excellent taste! From the pod head lamps and crisp grill work AND matching horn grills, right through to the sculpted rear quarters and spare tire bulge on that long sensual trunk. And THEN ending with the PERFECT stalk-style tail lamps ! ! !!

PERFECTION ! ! ! ! !

The very first time that I became aware of that car was watching a Three Stooges short before leaving for school. They were fireman and they stole the chief's car (a 36 Ford Coupe), picked up some babes. "Let's go places and eat things!" and ended up crashing it.
