Tom,
Try this link: http://speedsterowners.com/knowledge/article.asp?id=201 This goes over the process of installing a 16 gallon aftermarket gas tank which is available from California Import Parts (CIP). Not sure if it will work on a Beck, but I used this procedure on my CMC and it worked like a champ. If nothing else, contact Carey Hines and see what he suggests. Who knows, he may even see this post and chime in on it with his wealth of knowledge.

My original JPS came with a small tank. I swapped John for a 15(?) gallon tank. The large tank came from John with the gas inlet on the passenger side. I'm not sure if this was modified before I got it or not. But the installation was pretty easy. Tank just bolts in the same big hole. Difference is in the tank height. The gas cap interferred with the trunk inner panel. I just carefully cut a 3 inch hole through the inner panel and everything fit perfect. The gas cap has more than 1/4 inch clearance to the outer panel - on a JPS body. You'll definitely need a new front carpet - if you care - I didn't. As I said, an easy do. And the benefit of a bigger tank isn't really appeciated until you start using it on longer trips. Also helps if you have parnoia about your gas gauge. Oh yeah, I just re-bent the arm of the sender unit to accomodate the extra volume. Enjoy.
