On the last two rides my 1914 ran lousy-backfireing, idle jumping around, not pulling smoothly at low speeds. Suspecting an air leak I spray tested the Weber Idf 40s and intake manifolds -nothing wrong. Sick of adjusting the carbs  decided to check valves-all set to .006. What I did find was a pretty good exhaust leak where the Empi merged header bolts to tube in heater box  (# 1) The poor empi bolt was stripped allowing the clamp to come loose-It is possible that I  pulled it loose because the phat boy muffler is clamped to one header tube and I remember scraping the driveway entrance -don't have  quite 5 inch clearance. Anyway-new bolt, double nuts and a tight fit. Took the tub for a quick ride and much better. What will be next?
