Might try a new gasket or just buy a new one, couldn't be too pricey!
bought a new one. Part # = 8475? $16. Plus i bought an extra O-ring incase that didnt seal it... it still seemed loose with the new one but it sealed up ok.
slip the extra gasket over the cap, maybe with two gaskets it will snug up well. It almost sounds like the cap is wrong, I don't know much about diffent size or style caps but good the leak has stopped.
Okay Nic, how much gas did you put in it? Did you fill it right to the top (expanding gasses and all that stuff)?

well it was full but not to the top or anything... i didnt fill it, the dealer i bought it from filled it before shipping i guess.
