Leather Hood Straps

Any opinions good or bad for installing these on a Speedster?

I'm not concerned about the quality (I know Dusty does excellent work), but just any other things to consider.

Dusty is world-reknown for his leather craftsmanship! IMHO you won't find any leather products for your car (hood straps, luggage straps, etc.) that can top the quality of Dusty's!

Well, my hood was continuously popping open last fall and I figured a $100 or so investment was cheap insurance...and I like the look. Got mine from Dusty and they are of nice quality. I added the chaps as well.

As long as you don't mind another thing you have to do twice every time you get gas. I have a thru-hood filler so the straps don' t have to be unbuckled and buckled every time I have to get in the trunk. Of course they do give a nice vintage look.

Not to mention that you must have to drill holes in the hood and the body.

Any chance you could post a pic or 2 of your through hood filler? I have done some research and think I've figured out how to do the flip lock with a lockable insert and dog bowl drain pan inside the hood. Much appreciated if you can. Hijack apologies!!

Here is one of the photos of the filler, I have four others in my gallery showing the cap. Used the guts of a VW cap welded inside an original 356 cap, drilled handle on top of the cap is just plate from Home Depot. Bowl is from an aluminum mess kit with a drain added. Only regret - not using a larger tank in place of the stock tank.
