How does the ford teardrop lights look on a speedster, the dimensions are very similar, but the original speedster is a little longer, there are some on e-bay with modern technology led lights

I dunno.........having been a Ford Street-Rodder in a past life, I remember 39 Ford tail lights being shorter and fatter than those on a Speedster, and the Speedster tail lights are segmented - there are actually two, separated lights in there, one for tail/Stop and another for directional (in fact, the European versions have amber directional segments toward the outside).

While it might be intriguing to update to LED technology, I think the Ford-style lights would maybe look too different, and you would lose th segmented functionality. some of it may be nostalgia, and some of it may just be a really cool "look", but I kinda LIKE those 356 style tail-lights!

Wanted to share something regarding LED bulbs as I have them in a couple of cars. They are extremely bright and provide a crisp well defined light. BUT, the light is only visible from a narrow angle like directly behind and within a few degrees of the other driver's field of vision. There is no "glow" to the light. So once you are out of that narrow range the light is not readily visible. They work wonderfully on large commercial trucks and pickups because the lights are mounted so high. They blast right into the other driver's eyes and demand attention. The problem with speedsters/spyders is that the lights are mounted very low. To other drivers, your LED lights will be unnoticeable or even invisible. We did try a set on our 550 spyder and the effect was so poor from the vantage point of our pickup truck, the brake and turn signals could not be seen at all. We immediately swapped back to incandescent. angela
