New member, new owner, long story, but ended up with an Innovative Street Machines (Street Beasts). Wasn't the exact speedster I wanted, but special circumstances led ridiculous deal....so I grabbed it!

 

The wheel wells on both sides make foot position uncomfortable. I remember this from passenger seats, but not eh driver's side...to the point, where it impedes my ability to easily depress the clutch. Would someone recommend cutting some of the fiberglass out...does anyone see any issues with this? I would need a few inches to make this comfortable...

Sorry if this is a newbie question, but it is really the only thing I don't like about this car....

I may be dumped on, but I can't see any reason at all for not removing some of the fiberglass around the clutch pedal pad to make getting your foot on it a better proposition.  Get in there with a sawzall or dremel, remove enough to be comfortable, rough up the edges and the surfaces on both sides about 1" back from the part removed and glass in some new mat and resin and carpet over it.  NO ONE will ever see that it was done, and your foot will actually fit or a change.

 

Oh, and sorry about the Street Beast, but the worst part (dealing with Street Beast/CMC/Fiberfab/Auto Resolutions) is behind you.  It'll be just fine.

The person with the most knowledge of the "Streetbeast" clutch pedal clearance issue is Judge John Weyand. I believe that the problem with the clearance is as a result of the tubular chassis configuration. He cut the chassis and the fiberglass, then reconfigured the frame in such a way as to give the additional inch or so necessary for comfortable safe driving. I know that my Streetbeast was quite difficult to safely drive with the poorly designed clutch pedal clearance problem. Unless your feet are the size of a child(no offense intended,Dr. Clock), then this is a scary design flaw in the car.

Al - appreciate photo's of your "old" car.  Was having a hard time visualizing what the issue was.  I have CMC and it has upper kick panel pushed out good 4" where the Street Beast is straight down.  Heck, I even have room for a dead man pedal at the push out.  With my size 12's I can envision the problem.  As Imelia Marcos would say "there's a pair of shoes to fix that."

 

Easy fix for the swiveling mirror. Take a piece of clear plastic tubing with the same inside diameter as the windshield/mirror rod. About a half inch is all you will need.Split it with a razor knife and slip it over the rod. position it where you want on the rod, and take the clamp on the mirror apart and slide it over the tubing and reassemble. Works great. No more spinning mirror!!

Mark - doing fiberglass work (for sure what you want to do) is quick and easy - just a little messy.  Advance Auto has kit with FG resin, catalyst and mat for around $20.  Pull out carpet, cut/grind where you want it larger,  Make a mold out of duct tape and plastic bag.  Mix some resin with catalyst using cheap disposable brush (wear latex gloves) brush on 3" strips of the mat and apply. Use like 3+ layers of mat and water proof with extra brushed on resin mix.  Probably a 3 hr job with clean up. 

I did some fiberglass work to the front of my car where the PO had hit a boulder and split the body from the bottom up about 8". Never worked with glass before but followed similar advice to Wofgangs and I am very happy with the outcome.

 

Mix accurately, anticipate the time it takes to setup, don't be afraid to relieve and feather the edges you are filling to and have fun.

Can anyone recommend an oil cooler and install location for cooler and fan?

Before you add a cooler- does your engine compartment have enough air intake? If the fan is starved and the motor is working, it will overheat. Read my first response in this thread  https://www.speedsterowners.com...=lastReply#lastReply
