Thanks to all of you and especially Mickey who forfeited his ride for the honor of me becoming a new member. Actually, I'm not really new. I am just a new owner. I have been a voyeur on this site for a couple of years. Owning a speedster or another 356 ( had a 1963 356 and a 914 back in the 70's) has been an itch I've wanted to scratch for a long time. Now this scratching feels good!
Mickey did a lot of nice work on his speedster and I really appreciate the work he did. I hope to take to another level and continue improvements. I look forward to the bountiful information and the sage comments from the members.
Thanks again,
Rich
Rich,

Where the foo is Upper Falls?? Very happy to hear there is another "local" maybe in our midsts. I am compelled (it is a sworn duty of all SOCers) to welcome you to the madness, and so welcome indeed. From what I hear, you've got a very fine car. I met it once before all of the "improvements" Mickey made, back when he called it plebean, or ordinary, or I-don't-recall-just-what. As I undersatnd it, things have changed since then, and sounds like will change some more. It is a great hobby. I had an old '62 B coupe (and a '57 A too, for that matter) back in the day and endured the profound itch for many years too.

Sure hope we can meet up, and maybe the Punkin Run III would be it?? Hope so.

Kelly
Richard,
Welcome to the madness. You should try to make the Pumpkin Run. Also, if you've been on the forum for two years than you know all about the Carlisle meet in May.

Ed,
I've been trying to get to Lowe's with the Speedster but other things have been making it difficult. We did drive it up to the Shrewsbury cruise-in a couple of weeks ago. Hope to get the Speedster to Lowe's 10/15 and Shrewsbury 10/22.
Yah, click that url in my last post, Kelly. The Lowes in question is in Abingdon, at Rt 24 and 924, about 10 minutes from my house and the same for Richard, who is just north of Joppa.

You're maybe an hour south and west of it.

The Lowes cruise is held in the p-lot to the right of the store every Friday starting, I think, around 6 p.m. They ask for a buck when you come, that pays for the DJ and gets you into the 50-50 drawing but it's optional.

Pretty cool scene. Mid summer you get 500 cars. Lately more like 200. The early crowd is all grownups, mostly '60s street machines and restos. Fair selection of vettes, several cobras mixed in there too. But you also see some nice rods, some trucks (lowered and highered), and a growing selection of modern tuner machines as the night wears on.

Friendly crowd, no booze (or else it's well hidden). About every two weeks some knucklehead revs up and spins his tires, which prompts a nasty after action report on the cruise web site and, I think, some kind of banishment for said knucklehead.

People dig Bridget there. She don't look like everybody else's Chevelle (of which there are usually 30). A 356 would draw an appreciative crowd. A gang of them would really liven things up.

Now that it's cool I'm gonna probably do one last run, wear my tweed jacket and maybe affect a Briddish accent. Eh, maybe not.

Bruce: Hope to see you there. Let me know if you go so I can make it. Keen to learn about the Shrewsbury run too.
Got it. Fri (and Sat too) should be really fine weather, says here, so maybe could run up to N. B'more and see what's what. It is a MAJOR traffic struggle, B'more beltway, and I95 -- not the sort of roadways the Speedster (or its driver) really like.

Meanwhile, as I think about the Pumpkin Run, how about we meet up near Westminster? At 32, or maybe 26, and 140?? then toodle on up to Alan's. Can do? Will also post on PR thread/Events
The Shrewsbury cruise-in is the 4th Friday of the month and is held at the PA Dutch Markets at Shrewsbury. You can see the Market on the west side of 83 just north of the Shrewsbury exit. Here is a link: www.marketsatshrewsbury.com/events.htm They get a huge turnout and I would avoid the Lowe's cruise-in on those nights because those cars. They also ask for $1 to enter, have a DJ, give out three trophies at each cruise-in and you'll see all kinds of vehicles.
