Bruce, Kelly, Rob, Lane, Ed and I had quite the feed tonight. Those crab-shack guys really earn their reputation! Good beer, good bench-racing, a couple of jalopies and good shrimp, crab cakes, scallops and clams made for one of those nights where you just have to promise to do it again soon.

Lane, thanks for hanging out at your hotel there for the last half-hour. I think those Dells might actually be pretty much on the money now. The drive home was smooth as glass, with no popping, pissing or hissing at all.

I did get passed by a Maryland state trooper -- who gave me an enthusiastic thumbs-up as he went by. I was actually obeying the posted limit, if you can believe that!

Good times!
Good times, boys. Glad to hear Lane is contributing to the polity--and efficiently too!

Of course, as I pulled out of the G&M I noticed I had no headlights.

I swear, the more I make this car LOOK like a "real TD" the more it acts like one.

Dug out my OG brass windup Trouble Lamp and couldn't unwind the cord enough to reach down in front to look at my new relays and headlamp fuses... but no matter. Turns out it's a dodgy pull switch. Vintage VW, circa 1969, I think. I tapped it and the lights came back on and stayed lit, mostly, 'till I got home.

Anyone happen to have a good working Bug headlight switch (circa 1969) I could buy or steal? If not I might just wire the damn things through the 60-year-old Lucas ignition switch. That should work, right?
