Seems that when everyone is PRIVY to everyone's BIZ: who owns what, how much they paid, how much they didn't pay, who got screwed, who did what/when/how/why...some folks shy away from the perceived PEER PRESSURE, whether real or not.

We'll said Stan.  I actually sold my Speester last fall and shied away from listing it here for that reason. It was what it was and it sold for a fair price to a good home.

Hopefully most find/embrace the brotherhood of that which keeps the bathtub afloat and fun to tinker with

I lurked in this group steadily for 4-5 months before buying my speedster. I feverishly read past posts about the various cars for sale.

i can see it both ways. While it seems like the cars for sale are being picked apart, I found it to be very helpful to the buyer and newbie. It helped me prepare, know what to look for and know how much money to set aside for future work. I did not use it as a haggling tool. Fact is there's limited quantities of speedsters available at any given time, which makes haggling over minor issues difficult.

As I mentioned earlier, even with some of the negativity that surrounds some of the posts, I would still rather buy a car from a member of this group than from eBay, Craigslist, etc. when someone comes onto this forum, they truly care about the hobby, and sometimes treat their cars better than themselves.

I found and  joined SOS, after buying my plastic speedster.

I did not join to justify or second guess what I purchased. I never even thought of joining a group until I started working on my purchase. Never hurts(IMHO) to ask what others would do and how they would do it. You find out soon enough who knows what they are talking about and those that think they know what thier talking about.

One has to make up their own mind and go for it, why does anyone need others to reinforce or second guess your decision.

What I think might be a great deal, others might think it's the worst deal possible. Who cares.

It is sad, but their are many people in this world that their only point in life is putting other people down. Listen to people you can trust, limited on forums, I'm sad to say.

Point about some forum experts.

I own a camper and had joined a group of what at first would appear of like owners.

One day a person ask a question about coach batteries. A forum member with (75,000+) post responded with lead (the metal) is a non conductor and should never be used as a part in an electrical system.

When someone pointed out that error, they responded with, "I looked it up on the internet and that's what it said". Another internet expert passing information from another internet expert, right, no.

IMHO When you want something, only you can make up your mind.

A brand NEW Roadster starts at 77K PLUS.......so a well optioned car in mint condition, whether 2004/2009 is nicely priced AND "top down" weather is upon us!

IM Roadster

You may be a little short on the price for a new one with the same options.  Last fall Henry at IM told us that today it would cost between $85,000 to $90,000.

That Roadster is something you and/or your wife would look really cool in while driving around Amelia Island, Palm Beach or to the local Country Club.
