Busy afternoon at JPS Motorsports today. First, Paul Harford's Speedster arrives on a flatbed suffering from carb problems on that new Type IV engine. John Steele performed some emergency surgery and got Paul back on the road to Knotts.
Then Bruce Williams's Speedster came in on another flatbed after a major loss of oil on the I-5 just north of Los Angeles. Unfortunately, his diagnosis was not so good. His 1776 has a 50-cent-piece sized hole in the case with a rod showing through. The engine is toast and his car will spend this weekend (and a few more) at JPS, not at Knotts.
Rick Davis, who was shadowing Bruce, pulled in behind him at JPS with a rough-running engine owing to some bad "points," which John adjusted to get him back on the road. Bruce and Rick headed from JPS down to Buena Park in Rick's IM.
Pretty rough day on the highway for three of our troops. Let's hope tomorrow things improve.

Gotta say, the spirit of cooperation, willingness to help one another and such was just beyond my wildest imaginings(Guess I've been hanging with a rougher crowd in days past)... Hats off to all, what a great group!

Oh, and I also want to say it was damn near mystical at the breakfast table when Jim-Bob strolled in as if, well, like, fog, thunderstorms, serious 'gas' problems and nearly 1700 miles was no big deal! "Ah shucks" should be emblazoned on Jim's Spirit Award.

What an amazing guy!
