We have a super nice '40 Ford street rod at my friends machine welding shop.

Lincoln brake calipers were to be at a 9 o'clock position position but hit the frame hump over the rear..so my question,  is there any reason why they could not be repositioned at 6 o'clock other than having to remove and raise the caliper for brake bleeding ?

I am 95% sure it's not an issue but wanted to bounce this off some of you.  ~Alan

Sounds like a wild ride.

A lot of car and race designers have tried them in every direction just for sake of doing it. The brake bleeding aside, mount them any direction you care to!

ON THE FRONT WHEELS - Controlling rebound weight and high speed shimmy is the usual reasons that manufactures put them where they do. I shouldn’t have to tell you Alan, but make sure he’s built some caster in to this beast and a good steering dampener.

You have to post pics or this didn’t really happen. Project finished or not, car porno is car porno and we like it.
