The Lingenfelter Collection in Brighton, MI is rarely open to the public.  This was a benefit for the American Cancer Society. I have been there once before. The cars on display rotate.

The most common cars are Corvettes, maybe followed by Ferraris.

A high school friend's Dad had one of those 1966 Toronados with the big 455 CI engine (I loved the look of the '66-'67 models).  The friend, Dave, invited a few friends down to his family's beach house on Cape Cod, so he picked us all up and we headed to the beach.  Just before we got onto I-495 he had to show off, pulling it into "2" and stomping on it and I must admit, that 455 had a lot of 'Nads and planted all of us firmly into the seats as the speedo quickly went up.

We get out on I-495 and he runs it up to 85mph or so and after 5 or 10 minutes someone in the back seat says, "Hey!  What's all that noise?"

Turns out Dave never returned it to "Drive" and we were hurtling down the interstate in "2".  I don't think it had a tach but, if it had, it was probably running above 5 grand at that speed.  Amazingly, it didn't blow up and continued to run well (AFAIK) for two more years until they traded it in.

(oops......)

He used to hang out at the historic Town Common with the A/C cranked but he never got out of the car.

Dave is a big time Real Estate broker out in Las Vegas, now.  No idea what he drives but I can guarantee that whatever it is, it is under warranty and he, personally, never opens the hood.
