Visit http://krissmotors.blogspot.com for details on an electric version of the 1957 356A Speedster using large prismatic lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePO4). These lithium batteries ARE NOT the same type of lithium batteries used in the Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf, or Tesla Roadster. These EVs use basically laptop batteries. The LiFePO4 cells, manufactured in China, look like NYC phone books, can be re-charged over 5000 times, have no heat-runaway risk, yet provide outstanding power. Top speed 110mph, great acceleration, but disadvantage is limited range - about 110 miles.
