Bruce, thanks for the info I will do some more research if I knew the exact location I could drill a inspection hole in the fibreglas floor under the rear seat. This vin number needs to be verified by DMV and match the title. My car is a Fiberfab 58 wide body, some of the work done on it is kinda rough but it is a nice car, 1835 with twin dellorto's. Thanks Gary
When I bought Fern it never had a plate although the car was already an old build. I think it was made in 1991. But when I bought the car the guy gave me what I thought was a registration paper. That paper had a VIN number on it. Fern was not driven, it was a track car for some guy to crash around the track in vintage races.

When I took this to the inspection place they looked for a VIN stamp on the dash. None. Then they went to the tunnel and voila no match. What ensued was a lengthy wait and many trips back and forth and finally an inspection at a provincial police station to make sure that the car was not made from stolen parts. They checked the numbers on the motor, tranny and the car, then they affixed a new VIN number.

Never take your VIN number lightly. Live and learn. That delay was 2 months and a few hundred dollars of towing back and forth to garages. But we're all alright now.
