I'm lucky to have my 33 year old son, Jesse come over to help me pull and re the engine from time to time. He likes to learn about old stuff and has nothing to work on at home with mortgages, wife etc and etc, .

He's a quick learner too and has shown me a quick trick or too that he just learned. I just like the time with him and admit to dragging it out a bit. He knows it too and he now appreciates who gave / paid for the education in the first place. I'm lucky.

Have boys 26 and 28 both physicians following lots of financial assistance from the old man.  They are both very busy with their careers.  I guess they appreciate me.  Don't really know.  Sometimes I don't think you appreciate dad until you are one yourself.  Hope I live to see it.  I think their hard work and success is thanks enough.  I did go out to a bar with my oldest son last time I was in Chicago.  And he picked up the tab.  That felt pretty good even if it was just a few bucks.

There was a time when there was a good number of kids that held an interest in bikes and cars as this young man does. However, nearly all of today's kids sit indoors and play with their joy sticks having zero mechanical abilities.

I'm glad I built tree houses, forts go carts mini bikes even a telegraph that was strung through trees for blocks, built a 1960's Honda 50 out of boxes of parts and a frame and could run a lathe and Bridgeport milling machine at 14y/o.  Hell just about freezes over ( or I get a bit lazy) before I have to call in a contractor to do something. ..........THAT kid is way cool and a cool story!

We went to a cruise night in Bourne this Summer and were drawn to a really nasty and rusty, but clean rat rod 50 Ford pick-up.  The engine was beautiful and the bed was all mahogany and chrome buffed to the max and perfect. The rest of the truck looked like it was ready for the crusher. The builder was a kid was about 20 years old and had a great sense of humor. I felt a little better about turning the classic car thing over to kids like him.
